The buttons are actually really good and sturdy. It may not be a d-pad but it's really not that bad and is a rather good substitute for one. It was good enough to play Shovel Knight and King of Fighters at the very least.

The real revision that needs to be done is a JoyconR with the stick above the buttons rather than below them.
That stick really is too close to the 'B' button. It's in the way. And for certain games it's a legit problem.

If it just wasn't for that I'd probably use the joycons more than my pro controller to be honest. Having one freely in each hand is comfortable as fuck. The joycons are so close to be amazing, yet they're not quite.

Wrong, it's the straps that get stuck if you put them in upside down, the Joycons can be attached on the wrong side of the Switch and come off like normal

This, I have a Switch and the SL and SR buttons are basically flush with the controller because if they stuck out then you couldn't attach them to the Switch
The straps add actual buttons that protrude out so you can feel them, and yes they do provide a nicer curve and size to the Joycons

I have one of these, from before they even added the Switch support and it's fantastic.
Best fucking way to play games like Puyo Puyo Tetris, Wonder Boy The Dragon's Trap, Mighty Gunvolt Burst, etc. Funnily enough Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is fully playable with this. Except the amiibo menu. Going in there with the SFC30 connected fucks things up.

Looking forward to the SFC30Pro they're releasing later this year, it adds all the buttons needed for the Switch, but not the gyro or NFC scanner.
