I think you're misinterpreting the golden truth. The mysteries are a game board for witches. The red truths are things that the person who set up the game know. The golden truth is the game's fundamental structure. So of course the game that witches like Lambda have set up will be override by Battler or Beatrice who understand the rules of the game.

I disagree that there's little to solve yourself. You can solve all the games and come to your own conclusion. I've never read the official manga events. But I was pretty satisfied with my theories by the end.

And then they came out, and 5 was shounen shit everywhere, but enjoyable, and 6-8 were largely just very tepid. In Episode 2 or 3 there was a scene where Shannon and Kanon were talking, she turns away because she hears footsteps approaching, and then turns back to Kanon and he's gone. At that moment I knew that was probably going to be the answer. I desperately wanted it to be otherwise because I still feel like it's a predictable cop out, but hey, word of god wanted to take the easy out, can't argue with it. It's decent enough, there's no mystery so it's a pure narrative story. The gimmicky click gameplay is passable but it's not required and you can skip it and the characters are loveable or hateable depending on what you're supposed to do with them.

Starts off a little slow but everything kind of comes together for season 1. Also the way it is distributed is kind of weird, so S1 is only half of the first arc, an S2 has the first bits of the second arc and the last bits of the first arc.

Really enjoyed Leo as a protagonist, and was even drawn to liking the prostie cast.

Anime Higurashi is serviceable. The VN is so much better, but it handles atmosphere enough to be an alright starting point. Anime Umineko almost seems like they didn't get the details of how the story was going to pan out from the author, because it is so utterly inaccurate in a lot of its characterizations. If you go in expecting a conclusive answer to all the puzzle pieces like most competent mysteries do, even And Then There Were None that this heavily apes off of eventually released an in depth answer piece, you will probably be left wanting. The game, in my eyes, took a very noticeable pivot starting at Episode 6. Apparently the manga gave more detailed answers for people who thought Will didn't solve it well enough. Personally I loved how it was handled in the VN, it keeps in line with the thematic of some things being better kept a secret and it gives a little "gameplay" to the whole thing: figuring out the solutions.

I played the first two episodes of this years ago, the first episodes everybody just dies. Then the second episode gets really weird where the MC and his grandfather go to some kind of witch ritual and get sacrificed
