TP only factors into the game as a mechanic in savage raids, where fights are long enough to run out if you don't properly manage your invigorate cooldown, and in content as melee players that has you using a lot of ranged attacks or aoe attacks.

Generally, you will never use goad outside of savage raids or trying to speed run and aoe down groups of mobs in dungeons.

The role skills were designed to have 3-4 be absolutely necessary for your role to perform optimally, and the rest for you to choose from be extremely situational and almost completely useless, so as to create the illusion of choice without having to actually balance them.

Can you name one thing they improved with SB? The game has been going straight downhill since patch 2.2, with a little jump of activity with HW followed by the sharpest decline the game has seen so far.

The servers, for the worlds at least, are fucking fantastic. For the load they're experiencing, they're performing amazingly well.

It's the programming of the instance servers and how they designed that shit to work that's fucked up. And, even knowing it was fucked up and wouldn't be able to handle what they're asking of it, they went ahead and throttled the MSQ early on with a solo combat instance.

I don't know how they're going to fix it short of flagging it as auto-completed for everyone or renting/buying new servers to accommodate the load. They can't re-write that shit and have it working acceptably well before people drop the expac and demand refunds and lawsuits.

They actually made it feel really nice to play with a controller. You can swap hotbars easily in combat to access all of your skills, and you can freely assign them to your own liking. Movement feels good too. The only thing controller really sucks at is menu navigation.

What's preventing them from putting a queue in is most likely that they have no mechanism in the game's code for handling queues into solo instances, and doing that is something that legitimately might not be possible inside of a day or two.

However there ISN'T anything preventing them from simply forking off the Raubahn/Pipin quests into sort of an optional branch of the MSQ, and allowing you to simply go from the quest before Raubahn/Pipin to the quest after, with the understanding that you won't get the whole story chronologically (but will still get the whole story as long as you go back to it later).

There's also nothing stopping them from just going in and temporarily editing the instance so that every enemy has 1 HP, so that people can get through it quickly enough that nobody needs the instance for more than a minute or two before the next player can use it, instead of 15-20.

Either of those solutions would probably be less than an hour and a half of work, including whatever QA they want to do on it, and they could have easily recognized the problem, finalized the solution, and completed the maintenance to implement it before noon on Friday. That they still haven't done anything about it, 27 hours later, is sheer incompetence.

The Hall of the Novice uses the DF to enter a solo instance with NPCs. They could possibly use that to alleviate the pain, but I have no idea how the back-end works and what the differences between the quest solo instance and the Novice instances are.

SE going in and changing HP values is basically admitting that they're giving up, so they won't do it. They're going to save face until everything crashes and burns and people actually stop playing and demand refunds. Making the fight optional is probably the best choice but again, they won't do it unless they feel a ton of financial pressure. We'll probably get another boilerplate apology in 12 hours as our "fix".

It tries to feel like a single-player game when it comes to the story, but all the content you can queue for is meant for parties.

The story gates a shit ton of the stuff you can do so you can't just skip it and expect to be able to do anything of note.

As for quality, it's better than expected for an MMO, but it's still an MMO story that suffers from padding, bad arcs that drag on because of gameplay needs, and generally being longer than it needs to be. It's a FF game for sure but it's still an MMO.

Do the free trial, and if you like it, buy it. The only caveat I have is the good ol' "it gets fun at level cap" bit. It really does- early game can be painful.

Okay. I just went dirty and added back our missing potencies and ran a 30 skill 2.0 GCD test with 40% crit and the assumption that 2 extra FC per minute, 350 potency from BH, and no SKS loss from riddle and ended up with 229.51. I just straight up said 45% + 25% + etc was +77%.

That is not "incredibly good RNG".

Lets also assume a base 20% crit rate. Internal Release brings that up to 27.5% over the course of an entire fight. Proc chance from a chakra is 50% on crit, so roughly a 13.75% chance on any given weaponskill.

Lets say 2.0 GCD. So 30 weaponskills per minute. Every 6th GCD is a Bootshine, which has a guaranteed crit. So 5 bootshines per minute, giving an average 2.5 chakras per minute. The remaining 25 weaponskills apply the 13.75% rate, giving an average of 3.4375. That's 5.9 chakras per minute just from Deep Meditation. So realistically, 5-6.

Brotherhood gives everyone in the raid a 30% chance of proccing a chakra when they use a weaponskill. In 15 seconds, most jobs can use 6 weaponskills. If we assume there's 2 physical DPS besides the MNK, and 2 tanks, that's 24 weaponskills. At 30% proc rate, that's an average of 7.2 chakras from Brotherhood. Averaged out per minute, it's 4.8.

That's a fuckload more than you're calculating.

As a MNK main, that shit is more annoying to me than losing Touch of Death. I'm so used to looking at the buff bar for Greased Lightning, that not seeing it there is fucking with me. I still have to look at it to check Twin Snakes/Dragon Kick/Demolish, only now I have to look down at this big gauge to check Greased Lightning too. So really it just made it harder to track my shit, not easier.
