MMO's are bad. Guild Wars 2 isn't good for a number of reasons you can google. If you really want MMO still you have XIV or WoW. They're both bad in their own ways so flip a coin.

GW2 is fine. If you want to play an mmo and you aren't going to sperg out about it not being GW1 then it's definitely worth a play.

Elementalists are still one of my favourite classes in any mmo and I've played shitloads of them.

FFXIV got trashed with the latest update, so yeah, don't pick that one up. There really isn't a good MMO to play at the moment. Your best bet is to just play a single player game really.

GW2 IS Bad. Who the fuck brings back an old gw1 antagonist as a plot twist and makes another plot twist where it wasn't really him but FUCKING BALTHAZAR? Who the fuck is writing this dogshit? Someone taking a dump on everything established.

And that's not even touching on the mess that was HoT or the hilarious PvP "meta".

if you want fast paced combat and unique quests that dont feel the same
try out elder scrolls online they fixed every single problem they had at launch
its fun no matter what you do, exploring, questing, grouping for dungeons, leveling, crafting

guild wars 1 is dead, only people using cpu henchman remain
vindictus is dead although people wont call it a mmo, it still has one of the best mmo combat out there imo
guild wars 2 had nice ideas but it got really boring fast since you use the same attacks from level 1 all the way to max level
black desert has fun combat for spellcasters and bows, but for melee its too floaty to feel right, also its a very grindy korean mmo where you get 10 things and bring back 10 things

Avoid GW2 like the plague. It has nothing to do with guilds, or guild wars, no GvG, no AB, no JQ, PvP is a mishmash of 5v5 bullshit or WvWvW lagging zergfest. It's also imbalanced.

PvE boils down to using the same cookie cutter building and auto-attacking more than you would do in fucking WoW. Lack of a trinity might seem ionnovative, but its just kiting mobs into a corner and spamming skills, hoping to heal with combos because the graphics for fields and such are shit. Every class basically has to spam DPS CDs, retreate to heal, and repeat.

The story may as well not even be connected to GW1. Everything past Level 60 is fucking zombies. Also insert shoehorned SJW bullshit here.
