For me, New Vegas' story was not interesting and had no character development, the sides quests, are mostly boring, too short, and lack a lot of simple directions to even know how to finish them off; the bugs and glitches make the game for me impossible to play more than 20 minutes at a time without it crashing, even with a good console or computer; the graphics are too low quality even with my computer with the highest settings, and the landscape IS THE WORST PART, IT'S FUCKING BOOOOORRRIIINNNGG!! They should at least make it more "living"; the main attraction to the game is, of course, New Vegas, but because I had a high level Luck character I kept getting kicked out from the Three Main Casinos, and the smaller casinos are too small and depressing to enjoy. Even on the easiest difficulty the game was still challenging (I don't suck at the game and challenging in the annoying way), and had to get Books or Cass with me. And to returned to the landscape, unlime Fallout 3's Washington D.C., I couldn't tell the difference between the Mojave Desert and every other fucking desert in the world. If I wanted to play a Fallout game that was more centered in the original lore and desert-like landscape, I'd play the first two damn games. So in all, I would give this game a 6/10, it's still a fun game, but with it's boring quests, storyline, characters, landscape and heavy amounts of crashes I can't play more than 3 hours at a time and then can only come back to it every 5 days, if anything Fallout 3 was a more interesting, fun, memorable and changing experience, New Vegas just won't have that same feel even if it's " more lore friendly and works like the older games." So if New Vegas interests you, then get it, if you want to play a more lore friendly Fallout game play the first two games, and if you want to play a more fun, beautiful, rememberable and fun-looking landscape to roam around then get Fallout 3 and 4.

Recently started replaying New Vegas and I love how the main and side quests follow a natural path at the beginning leading you around to New Vegas itself. Its feels like you are constantly moving forward on your own and to places that need your help while still following your main story path.

Exactly. When I first played Fallout NV I was fresh out of 3, and it amazed me how many side quests there were but also how each side quest took me to another location where I would be entrusted with a new mission that still directed me towards my main objective. It really blew me away.

You know what I mean. There's an established canon about the functionality of power armor. Then they decide to change it for whatever reason for 3 and Obsidian, trying to keep a certain degree of consistency, bring in the training from 3. And by 4 Bethesda changes their mind again and decide you don't need training anymore but you need fusion cores.
Fuck that. It's obvious they did that only so they could push the power armor at the beginning of the game and then have a "valid" excuse as to why you can't wear it everywhere from now on.
But hey, those 5 minutes sure were epic huh? :DDDD

>>
>>380807087
Ulysses is literally Avellone's author avatar and stands to rail against the idea of the influential RPG PC in its current incarnation, where you can just go around massively impacting the world. The entire plot serves as a deconstruction of the idea that the effects a PC can cause are so cut, dried, and painfully obvious. It simultaneously explores Avellone's desire to destroy the NCR for the sake of keeping the setting in a continual, vaguely post-apoc hellhole (even though the Tunnelers fucking everything up completely goes against the core theme of the series, namely that the enduring horrors of the wasteland are predominately the product of mankind's folly). It's complete garbage through-and-through, and Avellone has lost his touch entirely.

That still sounds much more fun than anything bethesda is capable of shitting out.
>>
>>380805565
The reason for the power armor training was to prevent Navarro Runs and stuff like that. They removed it in 4 since they added the fusion core mechanic and gave you a shitty suit right off the bat and locked the best sets behind level scailing, so there still wouldn't be any way for the player to rush towards the best armor in the game from the get go. You can argue about the lore implications and how shit retcons are, but as far as balancing goes, I think it's alright. I really do wish they waited a bit longer to give you a suit though, that shit is retarded.

>>380808075
You could just keep it as 45d, which canonically requires ECP to function. It's weird that they made that switch, but programming armor-dependent behaviors and variable ammo types (or even looping reloads) seems to be beyond Todd's grasp.
>>
>>380807719
I want these games to stop being about "there's a valuable resource and X number of factions all want it, pick a side."
Say what you will about Fallout 4's garbage writing/execution, but the premise was at least more a knockoff of 1 than of 3 or NV.

Fallout 1 and 2 had straight up antagonists, one specific exact guy or group of people you had to take out and who wouldn't let you take their side.
4 made the mistake of, strangely, making the stakes too small. Nuking the commonwealth means jack shit compared to turning every human on earth into supermutants or wiping out everyone that's not the Enclave.
>>
>>380808294

Aparantly Obsidian had a hell of a time wrestling the engine to get looping reloads to work at all, and they nearly gave up altogether until they finally managed to make it work. Even then it was still buggy as fuck. But the fact that they managed to do it, and Todd's crew didn't even try says wonders.

>that fucking lever-action rifle reload in Far Harbor

The fuck were they thinking.
>>
>>380808832
That's my point - even with their heavily modified, updated and proprietary Creabryo, they still couldn't implement looping reloads. Don't even get me started on the exclusion of DT as a mechanic. Fallout 4 oozes laziness from every facet, like the hardcoded 4-option responses to the "determinant" dialogue (fun fact: you can visit Vault 84 without ever meeting Preston and still tell the kids there about how you killed a Deathclaw together).

Some of these are explained fairly clearly.

>he got upset over people copying his hairstyle
One of Ulysses character tics is REEEEEing when people copy symbols without understanding their meaning or history. His tribe used specific knots in their hair to convey details about themselves as a form of language. When he describes getting sickened at the white legs copying his braids, it's part disgust at him realizing that the history of his tribe is completely bastardized and forgotten by everyone, and part physical disorientation from instinctively trying to read their braids, which are meaningless because the white legs don't know the meaning behind what they're imitating in the first place.

>he wants to nuke NCR for some reason
Setting aside Avellone's autism for the moment, in universe Ulysses is trying to choke the mojave to death. Cutting off the long 15 ensures New Vegas dies as a civilization, as it is the only route of bringing supplies and people from California. As House puts it in a hypothetical scenario where Vegas is cut off from the NCR: "Goodbye, tourist economy."

I'll accept the hair stuff, though it clearly was meant to honor him, it's not exactly the white legs fault they realised they could have been saying some fucked up shit from their braids (that's also a really weird idea, conveying something through knots in your hair.)

But I still don't understand why he wants to destroy the mojave. Is it because of the courier? I remember him saying how he doesn't blame you but learnt from you, and yet every time he always sounds accusing towards the courier about the divides fate.

I'd chalk it all up to him being crazy but I don't think that's what Avellone was going for.

So you can't communicate without resorting to retardation? Why reply to people if you're gonna talk like that?

Anywho, it's quite simple why robots are killing people
The institute has their vision for humanity, they're a society of high brow scientists with their own goals for the future

They don't let morals stand in their way, and every person they replace with a robot is to further their reach and control

The mayor of Diamond city is a synth for example, it makes sense

The robots are their eyes and ears into the wasteland and a way to influence things out of sight
They managed to explore this much better in Far Harbor, which was a pretty great experience considering it's Bethesda who made it

So yea, fallout 4 doesn't have

And yet you still don't really have a reason for it. They're killing people because they're "unrestrained by morality," but that isn't morality.
That's literally just killing people for no reason because you want to replace people with robots because ????

Do they think the robots are better than humans? Are they trying to do what the Master wanted, replacing humans with a group more fit to survive?
I don't think that makes much sense, considering robots can't reproduce, exactly the same problem as super mutants.
They could build more robots themselves, but considering that's never brought up in-game, I don't think that was the plan.

Why does the Institute send synths out to murder and replace them for any reason beyond making them Bethesda's retarded equivalent of "morally grey?"

At this point, stories about AI aren't an interesting premise anymore unless you're vaguely competent at it.
It's not "more interesting" than factions fighting over X when I could read hundreds and hundreds of scifi novels about AI that are all better-written.

What are their goals? What do they gain by replacing people other than the vague notion of "power?"
They just wanna learn things? That's it? Because that was used as a JOKE in Old World Blues, the scientists who are actually complete dumbasses and conduct ridiculous evil experiments for no reason besides "progress."
What the fuck is the Institute "progressing" by developing indistinguishable human robots? Because now they're just a thing that exist. They don't really do anything. Most just think they're humans really, and they act like humans too. Nothing has been accomplished.

If they're "tools" like you say, the Institute dedicates a fuck of a lot of time to developing perfect human AI for "tools."
Shaun spent a fuck of a lot of time creating a perfect replica of himself as a child so accurate that even his father couldn't tell the difference. For what, for a tool?

You know there's already a tech-obsessed, unethical group of assholes who want to assert their power over the wasteland.
Except they actually have a goal, to obtain and keep safe old world technology, both to keep it out of the hands of crazy people and to research it.
They have y'know, like flaws and an ideology and clearly-defined rules that make them a real organization.
They have good intentions but are so egotistical that they believe they can push around whoever they want, like real people instead of supervillains.

Instead of being a badly-written serious version of a mad scientist group.

caeser is cartoon villain tier but at least when you talk to ceaser he tries to talk you into his faction with the Hegelian dialectic, also if you are in ceaser's shoes what do you do with the raiders and tribals in this apocalypse scenario you do what they are good at fight and expand use slave labor to feed the troops and expand and now you're the leader and you keep on doing what you do best, bam now you name yourself ceaser

and you have another explanation for why the legion acts like it does because a follower died what he could to survive and found himself in a position of power

ve universally panned Lonesome Road for being far too try hardy and pretentious, and for pigeon holing the Courier into a backstory, which frankly was a better design choice.

As for the Legion, they weren't done. When the trailer was announced, I figured the Legion were some tribal that had evolved a culture around the Caesar's Palace casino, which wasn't an unreasonable thought when you consider how tribals in Fallout work.

I guess the Legion as we know them work, but some things leave a lot to be desired. I don't think it helps that the Legion faction were clearly unfinished.

The Institute has no concrete vision whatsoever. Their slogan is Mankind Redefined, but they shitcanned their cybernetics program and see Synths as inhuman tools incapable of attaining true sentience. They have no longterm plans for the wasteland beyond using it as a glorified lab. Their MQ centers around them getting a better power supply. By the end of the game, they have done absolutely nothing to redefine humanity or carry out any remotely transhumanistic goals. At most, they've killed a bunch of people and upgraded their reactor.

Their plan to replace ordinary people like Art or the residents of Diamond City is completely unnecessary when they could literally just send synths topside to act as regular people. Not only are they needlessly antagonizing the residents of the Commonwealth, they're giving themselves a far more conspicuous profile by ordering what they consider inhuman robots to perfectly imitate the replaced humans. Half the time, they can't even get that right (Mr. Warwick doesn't sleep, for instance).

Their teleportation technology is completely at odds with the very existence of escaped Synths. Not only can they warp Coursers anywhere in the Commonwealth, they have to warp them out of the Institute to begin with. Power supply concerns are nonsensical. That Synths can even escape at all when they can be reprogrammed with a single phrase makes the entire existence of escaped synths even stupider. Then you get into the railroad, whose actual password is railroad plastered at the end of an incredibly conspicuous trail that common NPCs know about. Ironically, the BoS (who lives a world away in the CW) are the ones that have been infiltrated by Synths.

That's not even getting into the clusterfuck of an ending, where the RR destroys the only way Synths can reproduce and the BoS nukes the single most advanced facility on the East Coast. NV is fucking Nabokov compared to Fo4's bullshit.

How about you answer me and explain why you need to know every single detail of this world?
You know why the institute is doing what they're doing, I told you

I liked New vegas enough to play it around 3 times, but then I realized something
There's a huge issue in vegas, every character is an info dump
It's really lazy, and unrealistic that everyone in the wasteland is the most chatty fuck ever, and will tell you who took that shit, when, with who, why and so on
It's like Chris didn't think having one bit of mystery or things left to the imagination would add to the game

It is important to have a deep world in an RPG, but the way it's fed to you in New vegas, it's like reading a really long and boring novel for most of the time

It hurts the writing a lot I think

>>
>>380815136
I think that's more down to the nature of video games.

They are always catering towards a new demographic, so you have to spoonfeed past events if your game is a sequel or prequel. It doesn't make sense giving every NPC in Goodsprings for example, long lists of dialogue detailing every faction because realistically, the players character (and indeed the person playing the game) should know of past events.

That's not to say shoving in old elements without explanation is good, because F3 did that and it's one of the biggest criticisms people have with it.

I kind kind of understand where they come from even if I don't agree with it. Fallout 3's wasteland was designed with dungeons and weird gimmicky locations every which way that more often than not aren't really attached to anything else and are just there to give the player something to do while exploring. It's ADD in video game form, and for people who want to just run around and shoot mutants in the ass with a shotgun, that's all they need or want.

New Vegas was designed more around quests and trying to make the world a believable place where the bulk of what you find has a context or purpose for being there in relation to the rest of the world and had way less inconsequential dungeons full of generic baddies to fight in comparisson to 3 and that's just not what the crowd mentioned above is into. The lack of random encounters also doesn't help.

Yea I get you and F3 had the same issue, which is funny
I really dislike it how the info dump nature of NPC's kinda detracts from who they are
I stopped seeing people in New vegas as people, but as a ripped out page of a book that's about a backstory of this world and nothing more

I just couldn't stand it on my third playthrough, I really wished RPG's could take a hint from the souls games

Yea they're not about the story, have no dialog pretty much, but people still find the lore interesting

Which should mean that RPG's could maybe calm down with the info dumping just a bit, in place of more natural dialog and writing, which could actually add to the world more than just blank information
>>
>>380815893
Honestly if they'd kept the Roman shit down to a minimum, it'd be fine. I think that's what people have the most grievance with.

The reasons for what they are and what they do are perfectly fine and offer a good flipside to the motivations of House and the NCR. Problem with NV is that we only saw the morally questionable side of the Legion. Yes you can argue Nipton was a shithole and the Legion did it a favor, but aside from a very glancing references, we never see what Legion controlled land is actually like. If it is indeed "safe as long as you follow the rules" as people say, the choice presented to the Courier would be a much greater one because they're is a more morally ambiguous swing towards joining Caesar.

>why do these tribes follow Caesar?

Actually living under the legion isn't that bad. There's enough food and water to go around, they have power, the only problem is that if legionaries come and tell everyone get out of town, they have to. But even then there's little to no corruption or raiders, as the legion kills any raiders who don't join and he doesn't tolerate corruption. They were going to add non military legion locations to give you a better idea of this but ran out of time.

Also as Raul states, Arizona was a lot fucking worse before the legion showed up, so that's another reason they accept it.
>>
>>380816384
To be fair with NV, NPCs in it feel more like actual people than they do in 3 or 4. For me at least, a lot of that is to do with the environment, which feels more realistic and concrete, as opposed to the inconsistent theme park style world design you have with 3 and to a lesser extent 4.

I don't think RPGs like this would work with a new game+ style system. It might work with a leveled scaled world, but level scaling is terrible and really lazy way to make the most out of a lack of content.
>>
>>380816901
Don't forget the fact that Caesar forcibly integrated them and slaughtered/enslaved anyone who didn't enlist, then went on to indoctrinate their children. He's been at this game for a good 30 years, and Legionaires are trained from basically birth to fight and die for his glorious name.

They had an incredibly limited budget for the DLC, and the amount of things they would have to do if they made the game playable beyond the ending, like random NPC dialogue, changes in the world to reflect who you sided with, etc would have been way too much for them to feasibly handle. Say what you want about Lonesome Road, but I liked that it ended the Courier's personal story arc that was present through out the dlcs personally.

Honestly I don't get why people shit on the DLC so much. DM was not difficult even with collar around your neck, I still got to explore everything I could find with virtually no interference from the radios. HH was short yeah but it offered great content. OWB was full of bullet sponge enemies but I'd say that's the shitty engine's fault. I need to replay LR before saying anything about it, it's been forever. Also the DLC can be played in any order at any level, not sure why you wouldn't play them in release order though.
>>
>>380819925
As someone whose played through HH too many times, it has a slew of flaws in the form of overall mediocre quest design and a complete lack of options for a legion character beyond assassinating Graham. LR is heavily centered on your faction choice and both DM and OWB allow you to play a fervent technophobe, so it's disappointing that HH has you working with a man Caesar despises with all his heart. Curiously, Graham has extra dialogue for players that have killed Caesar.

The map itself is nothing to write home about, and the quality of the dungeons leaves a lot to be desired (compared to the Belltower, Casino Interior and OWB/LRs setpieces). The companions, similarly, don't really compare to the DM cast (even if Follows-Chalk is my husbando). Randall Clark and Graham are probably the best-written characters in the franchise either way.

Why though? People hate on the wacky sci-fi shit in OWB but there was way more to it than that, I thought they made that clear the more you learn about the Big Empty and its characters. I've heard a lot from these threads that Ulysses is a shit character, but like I said I need to replay LR. Personally I liked the way DM and OWB were tied together, and the same way the DLC comes full circle in LR. You hear about the Big Empty in DM long before OWB was even released. And Christine mentions the fight between two couriers at the edge of the world, you get to experience that. And all the DLC ties in with the main game. I suppose the strongest point is its storytelling and the devices used to attain that level of depth and connectivity for the characters and settings. An RPG has to have a great story, but at the end of the day it's a video game which means the gameplay should be great too.

Yes you did. And your reason is stupid. It makes no sense.

"The robots are their eyes and ears into the wasteland and a way to influence things out of sight"

They're not 'out of sight'. If they were out of sight people wouldn't know it was happening. The whole kill and replace thing is, at best, redundant. Given how there's basically no central government in the commonwealth, it would be trivially easy to seed a population of late model synths (it also bears mentioning that the game never keeps the idea of the different generations consistent) as everything from service industry personnel to farmers to tradesmen of every kind. Hell, drop a few of them off in Maryland and have them pose as refugees heading North. No need to expose the operation to risk. Instead they embarked on a program of needlessly complex kidnappings and assassinations coupled with dropping experimental robots in the places of the victims gambling that they would seamlessly integrate. There was never a question of robots becoming full equals in Institute society - these were not (needlessly ghoulish) Turing tests. The replacement had to serve some other purpose but we're never allowed to know what it is.

Mysteries need solutions or they're just holes in the setting. If the setting of a story repeatedly draws attention to a particular thing and grant it some measure of urgency, then utterly fails to explain it in any way, then it has failed as a setting. The water problem/'but what do they eat?' is enough to rip Fallout 3's attempts at constructing a narrative into shreds because they completely screw up the delivery of everything needed to make that work as a setup. Even bad-to-mediocre stories understand this.

For example, there are several power players in the region that have significant connection to how the setting is the way it is. One, the Gunners, are supposedly mercenaries but we never can find out who hired them, what the terms of their contract are, what they're actually supposed to be doing, etc. Never mind where the group came from or how they got their equipment and training. The player can never, say, amass a wad of cash and buy out their contract and hire them to act as defense against all the stupid shit the Institute has seeded into the region/facilitated by strangling the Commonwealth's incipient government in its cradle.

Again, we're talking about a region with very few settled areas, almost no central government at all, and a constant and continuous influx of new people coming and going at all times with no authority controlling or monitoring their movement or even keeping some track of the general volume. Hiding a spy or subversive element in such an environment wouldn't even be a real challenge. It's a strategy that's worked since the bronze age.
>>380825009
They seem to replace willy-nilly. Randoms are getting targeted, not just the powerful. Non-replacement synths mostly don't know they're synths until someone manages to prove it. In Danse's case it's 50/50 that the evidence is actually fake. The kill/kidnap and replace operation undermines the seeding spies operation by letting people know some operation exists at all. It only works as a spy operation no one knows about if no one knows about it. And this brings us back to the beginning point, why are they wasting time trying to influence? Their goal was always to isolate themselves completely once they had certain things they wanted. Influencing the commonwealth's political development was at best orthogonal to that.

Exploration is only as good as the effort required to actually explore. If you can waltz across the wasteland with the starting gear, exploration is effectively meaningless as a mechanic, since the only thing stopping you from going anywhere is MQ scripting. NV requires actual exploration to find the shortcuts that let you skip out parts of the MQ.

Only by virtue of luck and metagaming. You not only have to know the appropriate routes (which requires at least some exploration on the player's part), you also have to have the right equipment. Getting past the Deathclaws requires trial and error or the player actually finding alternative paths through Hidden Valley and Black Mountain.
>>
>>380832617
No, it requires not being a shitter. I done it first try by skimming around the mountains.
>>
>>380832707
So you metagamed the shitty terrain to get around the Deathclaws/Cazadores, then? "Shimmying" around the poorly pathed cliffs isn't the intended route and requires OoC knowledge of the physics system to pull off.

But it's not easy. You need to sneak along a very specific path to bypass the deathclaws and the cazadors. You are trying to act like you're elite by saying it's easy, but you're coming off as someone who read a guide and is not admitting it, because you are butthurt about losing a debate and you're saying anything to try and save face.
>>
>>380832909
It requires not getting killed by mooks like Cazadors in the first place by being awful at videogames and by not being retarded and running out into the open deliberately trying to attract NPC attention.
>>
>>380832975
>losing a debate
You can't "lose a debate" (which qualifies as disagreeing with you because you can't play on any difficulty other than very easy) in the first reply dumbass.
>>
>>380833089
It's almost impossible to actually avoid the Deathclaws or Cazadores with starting stats, even with a Stealthboy and two levels of Sneak. You would have to know how to exploit the terrain in the first place to do so. The Deathclaws by the train station are positioned such that they'll notice you from either side, and you have to walk by the Cazadores since they're right int he middle of the road.
>>

Cass for harping on about my drug use and being a moralfag even after wiping out the Van Graffs and Crimson Caravan together. Her perk is nice though.
>>
>>380833354
Or you just, again climb across the mountains, or kill them. They're random mooks, they aren't difficult to kill. Nor did I go through the train station. All you have to do is go west and skip across the valley near Red Rock.

It's less obvious than Casey Smith's Garage because there's no blatant sign telling you to go there.
>>
>>380833354

All of beths games have exploitable terrain though. It's not like that's some big super mystery team trick - everyone figures it out the first time they try to climb a slope that's too elevated for them but is too stubborn to let the slope win.
>>
>>380833569
>Or you just, again climb across the mountains
So, you just exploit the terrain, which requires at least some degree of exploration or metagaming?

Exploration implies you need to work out some way to pass when the way forward is very clear infront of you. The entire south of the map is open for entry to outer Vegas, you don't need to find some hidden passage
>With weapons that deal no more than 75 damage per hit at max proficiency with all relevant perks
Considering you get the Courier's Stash, plenty of dynamite and get to work with the awful AI, it really isn't that difficulty. You imply people immediately try to fight 4 cazadors in an open field with a switchblade.
>>
>>380834280
*difficult*
>>
>>380834280
Climbing over the mountains specifically requires you exploit the shitty physics to find a path that the enemies can't take. You cannot take the open road and there aren't any side paths along the Cazador path that doesn't lead to more Cazadors or Deathclaws. You're right in that Courier's stash is stupidly imbalanced. Even then, dynamite only does 75 damage at max explosives, which you will not have at level 1-4 unless you're already metagaming for it.

I just have to ask.

Do you seriously play this game in such an autistic way, that you self-limit to only terrain portions that an NPC can reliably path to?
>>
>>380835874
I try to avoid exploiting terrain and AI flaws, yeah. I don't think it's fun or satisfying to avoid an otherwise challenging encounter by climbing to an unreachable ledge.
>>
>>380835995

>tall rock sitting in the middle of level ground
>rock cannot be mounted by most npcs
>rock is tall enough to avoid melee and leaping attacks
>quickly find a way to jump up to top of rock and shoot predator from safety

This is behavior that humans have been doing for literally forever. That all sorts of lower animals take advantage of to at least escape attack, even if they have no means of counterattacking.

And you are seriously calling that a meta exploit. Holy fuck, dude.

>>
>>380836236
>implying that's how the cliff exploits on I-15 work
The only way to get up to them is by specifically jumping on terrain that you can't technically climb, then finding just the right spot to jump again to get on a ledge you couldn't normally reach. Quarry Junction, OTOH, is designed around the player climbing the dredgers to avoid the Deathclaws. The actual route to Vegas is not.

Toilet paper is very hard to come by.
>>
>>380836362

>humans climb mountains by finding just the right way to climb up them, until there literally is nothing else to use to continue ascent

If anything, the "meta bullshit" is the artificial walls beths put in place to prevent your ascent after certain points.
>>
>>380836470
No, I'm pretty sure using physics exploits that a new player would have know way of knowing about and that the devs did not design around counts as meta bullshit. If that's how you prefer to play the game, more power to you. Doesn't mean that NV has no exploration, or that utilizing these exploits makes the actual, intended routes require any less exploration or challenge to circumvent.

I don't remember that exact quote, but I think he's talking about how you're led on a leash by Elijah through the pipbiy mechanics. Elijah says go here, do this, there's a marker on your map, good boy. God also makes the comparison of collars and "manacles" (i.e., the bear trap on his arm and the pipboy on your wrist) and how you are both being used like animals by Elijah and don't currently have any free will. I think it was enforcing the themes of control, as well as the allure of the Sierra Madre being so powerful that you couldn't turn back. That and also it was a meta-commentary about the nature of quest markers.

This isn't a little detail, it's the antagonist's motivation! That's pretty essential.

You can also invade the bunker, kill everyone and loot yourself a set. No training needed.

I have to ask does anyone know how to solve that audio popping that happens sometimes in the game, the best example I know of is when you leave goodsprings and the audio starts to skip, has anyone encountered that problem and know how to fix it?

Only if anyone has the time of course I do not want to bother.

>>380852005
Forget the question I can probably find a solution around the web sorry to bother you.

"It's physically impossible to leave the vault" If he was roleplaying as a retard he'd either of never got this far or stopped complaining because this would logically be the end of his "dumb character" run. Why complain about a DLC because of your own incompetence or, on your assumption, because you purposefully limited yourself. DM is an atrocious DLC, but not for that reason.

It makes much more sense to let people gamble inside because being the only person able to enter the building just marks me as a target.

Pretty sure deserts get pretty cold at night. You can usually see some soldiers huddling around garbage fires at night.

I haven't played Fallout 2 but why is Marcus intelligent compared to most of the supermutants?

Have you played Fallout 1?
>>
>>380858142
He was a first gen super mutant and likely didn't have as much radiation contamination as the later batches that did, which made them stupider.
>>
>>380858361
no
>>
>>380858142
Some supermutants are just like that. Specifically, supermutants created from completely uncontaminated humans are the best for becmoing supermutants.
If you get captured in Fallout 1, an intelligent supermutant mentions you're a prime candidate for being transformed because you were born in a vault, and there's a bad ending where you get transformed if he beats you in a fight.
>>
>>380804010
Because when I was a kid, I was watching my older brother play Fallout, and he picked the Master ending just because he knew it would scare me. It gave me nightmares for a week. I eventually played Fallout, and I didn't fall for the Master's tricks.
>>
>>380858508
I wonder how much more dangerous the Vault Dweller would be if he became a supermutant who retained all of his intellect.
The Chosen One would have never been born, but the Vault Dweller would have still been in his prime to deal with the Enclave.
>>
>>380858508
Or if you go turncoat.
>>380858732
I'm confident the Enclave would have steamrolled the Unity.

Isn't it the irradiated you are before being dipped the more likely you are to be a dumb-dumb? that's why the master wanted the vault, to have more intelligent mutants instead of the usual dumb ones he got from wastelanders.

1st gen prime candidate, basically he was a human with low FEV radiation exposure. 2nd generation were nightkin, supposedly better than the 1st gen but had mental problems due to stealthboy use, 3rd generation are converted wastelanders.

Any good player home mods? I have awsomised sink and lucky 38 reloaded, though I had to get a hot fix from the comments section to properly use it.

Also have couriers cache and the flyable vertibird player home as well.

Nigga you're at the point that you are no longer looking for something good. All you want at this point is variety. Try Couriers cache.

can someone tell me what i can merge safely here? i need to get it below the 150's, preferably into the 120's.
>>
>>380860418
get merge patch. It has auto detect for incompatibilities and is easier to use than FNVEdit. Though as a rule never merge script heavy mods and mods that has a lot of meshes.
>>
>>380860642
merge patch? that's in the STEP guide right? I just want to reduce the number of mods, I hear it cant run past around 130-150 active mods

[Barter 100] No one is going to buy your game if it's shit Todd.
>>
>>380860778
It can run up to 250 mods with some semblance of stability. But less than 150 is optimal.
>>
>>380861165
i would rather reduce the number just for stability and sanity's sake. know anywhere that might be able to point me to some guidelines for merging which mods?
>>
>>380861454
What i did is just i mixed and matched stuff. I merged all my weapon and armor mods into one .esp, did the same with small questmods and compatibility patches. Better to leave mods with big file size alone.
>>
>>380861964
Not him but I just used FNVEdit to make one big merged patch. Is that okay or is there a better way to do it?
>>
>>380862081
If there are no errors and conflicts, then its fine. I'd be tedious to uninstall individual mods as you have to build the merge again.
