Literally the only good thing SFV did was allow the characters to be earned instead of having to pay for them, but they arent bringing that back for Infinite so I guess they didnt learn anything and are going to continue being shit tier developer, only shitting out something decent like RE7 and Dragons Dogma once in a blue moon.

Probably because SF has fuckload of characters thanks to it's long history, and traditional gameplay which allows for many variations based on particular character's strengths.
ARMS on the other hand is new game with (probably, no fighting expert here) no past to jump off. Should it prove to be successful enough to make Ninty make ARMS 2, it will be expected to have more characters at launch, with all existing ones available as well (minus universally disliked or broken in some way).

Because Arms is pretty much a completely different fucking genre as it is. Not to mention SF5 had almost no fucking content to begin with, battle lounges were shit, and any character that isn't top 5 is pretty much unplayable trash because of the simplified way the game works.

Not to mention shit like colors were behind a paywall, titles were behind a paywall etc. The Guilty Gear demo had more content than the entire SFV GAME did at launch. Couple this with shit netcode, terrible balance, delayed deadlines and the roster looks even worse. Sure it's the first iteration, but with as little mechanics to explore as this game gives you'd think they'd give more characters.

If you have more variety of characters to learn, then you are justified in charging more, but if you have only 6-12 and nothing else you really shouldnt be charging full price and then also charging for season passes. Mortal Kombat and Injustice skirt around this by offering tons of content besides characters so regardless if you're a casual button masher or someone who wants to take it seriously, it still feels like you got a good deal.

Anyone calling Season 1 KI a full game is an idiot. It was essentially early access.
By the end of Season 2, it was a good game. Not just because the character count was bumped to 18, but because the trash developer (Double Helix) left and a good developer (Iron Galaxy) replaced them.

In my opinion by the end of S2 that was the peak of the game, S3 added some good balance stuff like combo breakers no longer causing knockdown but I just didn't like the characters added and a lot of the continued balance changes were questionable. S1 wasn't bad but it was a little janky and DH weren't that great about responding to their fans like IG did, but I think overall I enjoyed it more than S3 as well.

S3 suffered because IG had two major things to work on that season which were the PC port (which still has some issues) and Shadow Lords (a HUGE undertaking, and the best part of offline play). I don't have a problem with the characters, even if there were a decent number of guests because we ended up getting 3 more characters anyway, including FUCKING EAGLE.
Given how shoestring the KI budget has been since S3 and how IG's CEO is a literal Sony shill and they're branching off into their own AAA game(s), I expect the end of support for KI very soon.
