Pretty much every quest in this game is a fetch quest, but this game's strength doesn't really lie in its quest as much as the game world. The reason this game lacks fast travel is because they want you to get lost in the world and the fetch quests are kinda there to incentivize exploring.

Some of the most interesting quests are the ones with the tribunal temple. They get you to trek across the place and do weird shit that gets you immersed into the world if that's the kinda shit you're into.

Anyone who calls Morrowind flawless is a nostalgia blinded idiot. However it is still the best realisation of the TES world, where all the later games have comprised so much.
The 3d art's not very good, even for the time. The UV maps are fucked and the textures poorly defined. The animation is fucking terrible, almost as bad as the sound design.
The writing is something you learn to get into, but that doesn't detract from the repetitive generic response to basic questions the vast majority of NPCs can only provide. But I've found the mod series 'Less Generic NPC' can help that significantly, giving individual backstories to NPCs to liven up the world.
Wildlife is way to aggressive, find a mod to calm the down. Get a mod to add ambient sounds to immerse yourself.

Anyone know of a mod that turns birthsign stat bonuses into actual bonuses so they don't become worthless after you level up a bit?

The game has fast travel. Only it involves finding a boat, silt strider or teleporter and paying for their services, or using magic items or spells. It had convenience working towards immersion rather than breaking it. You had to open up the map and plan your route.

I've just started playing and I love it but how do you find and initiate side quests? All npcs say similar things and the main quest and guilds seem to be the only ways I can find lower level quests in the starting areas. Do I need to admire spam random npcs?

That's called a Silt Strider. As alarming as it looks it's actually quite harmless, and will even take you to other cities and towns! You don't need to be afraid of it, just progress as normal. It will not attack you or otherwise get in your way.

Play as a female and use Atranoch because you need the mana. You mostly want to avoid combat or use other means to get around, side with Telvanni. Play like you have actual Argonian morality, remain mostly neutral, don't value property very highly for other people or your own, take great advantage of nature through alchemy and explore underwater frequently aided by alteration, free the slaves, avoid authority and structure. You can do the main quest if you want.

Anything else I should look into? Fairly large modlist but nothing too out of the vein of vanilla is what i've been going for. Wanted "Vampire Embrace" but it's not compatible with "LGNPC". Thinking about writing a guide that isn't all graphics shit like that one big guide is, because I don't use any graphics mods besides what MCP and MGEXE do. Keeping track of all the new version of mods and obscure compatibility bugfixes hidden away on obscure forums is such a pain in the ass sometimes.

The overhaul is shit honestly, the s.t.e.p guide has a morrowind mod install guide thats pretty good now, but you can go into the sound files for your morrowind installation and find it manually and just delete that sound file, theres also a aggravating cat meow noise that plays sometimes id get rid of that too, so fucking annoying

Ok you retards this is how you build a character in morrowind.

1. Decide the skills you want to use while playing the early part of the game. Pick whatever
2. Make sure those areall miscilanious skills. Do not pick them in major or minor skills, you will fuck up if you do this, it will be horrible.
3. For major and minor skills pick skills that are easy to raise when you want to, and which you will not accidentally raise. So dont put athletics or acrobatics, for example. Magic schools are good because you can raise them at your leasure casting minor spells over and over in town next to a bed. Its best to just fit a bunch of magic skills in there and then not use them. DO NOT PUT ALCHEMY.

Now it is very important you do this because you need to get 5x multipliers every time you level. This is critically important, because of endurance. You absolutely need to get 5x endurance multiplier every single level untill you have 100 endurance. If you are a filthy casual and dont want to minmax optimally you at least still need to do this because your endurance raises your hitpoints on level up, its not retroactive, so maxing endurance asap is important, you will miss hitpoints and NEVER GET THEM BACK if you do not do this.

I cant remember if it works the same way for int and magicka but it probably does so work on raising those attributes up as well, remember the goal is to get all 5x multipliers every level up.

Now what you do is this. You get out of the census and excise office, and you go to the silt strider, and you go to balmora. Join the guilds and shit but dont level up, do not level up. If you gain enough exp to level up, do not sleep.

You need to go to caldera. In the mages guild there you can find a complete set of master alchemy equipment. Steal it all and head back to balmora.

What you want to do is the buy/sell reagent stacking feature. It works like this. Talk to the alchemical reagent seller in the mages guild, buy a bunch of cheap reagents that make some sort of potion and then rest untill the inventory has restocked. Now sell them all back and rest again. Congratulations, that merchant will now carry that new stack size of stuff forever. You can repeat this process untill they are selling stack sizes of hundreds of reagents.

Potions sell for more than their reagent cost if you use the fancy master alchemy gear, so make potions, sell for profit, buy more reagents, use the merchant stock inflation trick to get workable sized stacks, sell, buy, repeat.

Alchemy will hit 100 pretty quick, you should still be level 1 at this point. Once you have enough money we move on to leveling.

The idea here is to make low magicka cost spells of each spell school that you can cast in town near a bed, and use that to raise your magick skills. It is critically important that you do NOT REST yet though. Head to the fighters guild trainer and raise something that raises stamina like spear or heavy armor. Raise it or a combination of skills enough to get 5x multiplier, Rest. Distribute your 5x multipliers. Repeat this process, with training first, then leveling up near a bed.

Do this untill every attribute is 100. I recommend always raising luck each level, as you can not increase the multiplier there, so just keep raising it.

Next you want to go get azuras star and the summon golden saint spell, you can get it in one of the telvanni towns its the one in the south i think, read a guide. Once you have it use your alchemy wealth to enchant powerful gear. Get 100% sanctuary. Enchant a weapon with 1s soul steal and a direct damage enchant

There, now you can start to play the game.

No, you dont need to hit 100 end or 100 alch, its nice, but not necessary. For example, if you wanted to go pure mage what you need to do in max out your magicka growth first so you can regularly cast spells that will one shot enemies.

He's just beginning to phase his stuff out of dwemer tech, there's an entire raid where you go through a shut down part of the city and it's specifically mentioned he's ceased working with dwemer designs, so you fight an army of undead dwemer robots, old outdated designs, junk, and eventually go up against an AI that possesses a single dwemer mech that is still as powerful as demigods and living stars, and you have to distract the AI while Divayth Fyr hacks its mainframe.
You do get to see newer stuff which is in-line with Sotha Sil's Tribunal portrayal, along with in-between stuff like humanoid fabricants.
