Can someone recommend me an RTS game where I can just build my village/town/city comfortably without worrying about a sudden GAME OVER screen when my opponent wins due to some non-hostile victory?

Recently been playing Civ 6 and AoE2 but the former is too strategic and I got over the latter after a few games

tl;dr: comfy RTS games ?
>>
>>380749537
Rise of Nations has the option where the player controls both sides. I liked to select that then build cities and watch the wee roads all connect through age advance and caravans

Also Anno and tropico I guess but they're more city building anyway
>>
>>380749537
These kind of games are called city builders, you fucking mongoloid.
>>
>>380749537
Cant you just disable everthing but domination?
>>
>>380749750
I haven't played Rise of Nations in ages, I think I still have my copy. I remember I loved it though. I might have to give it another spin
>>
>>380749537
Can someone post the RTS tier-list chart or whatever? I wanted some game ideas

OP I think you should play stronghold
>>
>>380749537
I think in most games you're allowed to disable specific victory conditions when you set it up, aren't you? I vaguely recall AoE 2 having that option, but I could be mistaken.

I know exactly what you're looking for Anon.

In Fallout 4 you can build settlements. Don't forget to purchase the season pass to have more assets.

Game on!

>>380749993
>>380749963
Hmmm. Maybe it did. I couldn't see it but I didn't look very hard. I'm honestly still unsure how I lost each time
>>
>>380749537
you can set treaties. it prevents enemies from being able to attack for the set duration.
>>
>>380750007
Why does your game go slow as fuck when we install the DLC? Whats that all about
>>
>>380749985
good choice man it introduced me to RTS and is one of my all time favourites. Also Age of Mythology has more building options and an island map with easy AI will have them either so easy you wont have trouble defeating them when they attack or the enemy not attacking at all

Hmmm. That might be what I'm looking for

>>380750545
It was one of my first ones too. I think my very first RTS was
Red Alert 2 though.

Dealing with combat in AoE2 wasn't too bad coz it adds to the comfy when you've got your base/troops all set up well for defense. It was the victories that would just happen out of nowhere in the privacy of their own little bases. I wish it let me continue after defeat

Stronghold the comfiest. Music, peasants commenting on everything you do, lazy soldiers sleeping on duty.
Good balance of economic and pure combat missions in main campaign. Fairly easy, except mission 18.
>>

Clash of Clans

Have you try Stronghold?

Black and White 2

It aged badly though
>>
>>380751825
Sadly, the lack of content takes its toll
>>
>>380749537
Try the Anno games. They are the comfiest. And you get to set up supply chains etc. Its lot's of fun
>>
>>380751972
B&W 2 wasn't even half as good as 1

If OP is into the godgames genre, pick Populous 3 Beginning

Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim.

Medieval Fantasy RTS. You're a king, you build guilds and resource buildings and try to conquer objectives.

Catch: You cannot directly control any of your units. All of your units have an AI attached to them and different personalities. A rogue will act differently than a warrior who acts differently than a wizard.

The only way you can get your objectives done is by analyzing how each type of unit thinks and placing bounty flags.

Do NOT get Majesty 2, and if you get the Gold pack or anything that comes with the Northern Expansion, I wouldn't spend too much time in the expanded maps. Both 2 and Northern Expansion go a little retarded with the difficulty. The first base game however is a solid A+
>>
Any good new RTS coming this year ?
>>
>>380749537
Filthy casual. Find another hobby.
>>
>>380751331
There are economic and milliary challenges but they are harder than campagin, and there's siege mode where you either siege or defend a prebuild castle.
For skirmishes like in other rts games try Stronghold Crusader, pretty much expanded base game but in diffrent setting (Middle east crusades).
>>
Give Cossacks 3 a try. Alternatively Cossacks Back to War, but that game is fast.
>>
>>380749537

DESU OP you should play Anno 1404 with it's expansion Venice

It is exactly what you want
>>
>>380749537
Keep at it with AoE2, but play the campaigns.
The maps have legit interesting stories and most of the time you can take your time doing your objectives.
>>
>>380751980
Fortunately you can play around with mods, but I agree, it does eventually get old. Still worth playing
>>
>>380751796
just play a city builder instead, pharaoh of the nile is pretty good
>>
>>380752106
Which Anno do you recommend?? I love old school stuff and I dont think I want Anno 2025. Would you recommend the first one or is there a better Anno??

Go play city builders.

Tropico is great.

Skylines is way too easy but comfy.

The Anno games are good.

Sim City is dead.

Also, you can go for The Sims too. You might like it.
>>
Damn you're all being pretty helpful. I'm writing a list for the games I haven't played

Stronghold
Seven Kingdoms 2
Banished
Settlers 3
Anno 1404
Majesty
Cossacks 3

They all look very cool and hopefully not too stressful

>>380752295
Fuck you

>>380752726

1404 perfect mix of graphics, moddability, price and gameplay

Stronghold crusaders

I played Black and White 2 ages ago. It was pretty cool. Kind of reminds me of From Dust. Which was also cool
>>

>>380753185

B&W 1 is worth trying to get work.

>>380749537
Constructor might be what you are looking for, the original is quite old though, and the HD remake is stupidly overpriced.
but it's a lot more of a city sim but you also have opponents and they basically fuck with your town with hippies and spys and crime and shit instead of direct unit vs. unit combat, and in the meantime you gotta keep your citizens safe and shit.
it's a pretty great game.

Anon, have you played Factorio?
I think you might really enjoy it, it has that certain brand of autism that is both non-intimidating but also as deep as you want it to be
>>
>>380753185
B&W 1 is better in my opinion because I played that game first, and then the second. The last one has more content, and everything looks better, but there's this feeling that you are playing an AoE with God game elements in it.

The first one was way more original in that regard. Perhaps I like obscure ways of creating a city instead of placing a building from its corresponding menu to get the bonuses that appear in the building description.

Also, the first makes you think about how to influence remote villages to get their powers. In the last one is all about sending armies and your creature.
>>
>>380749537
Settlers 2 or 3
>>
>>380756581
Yeah, Factorio is a great game, but eventually, as your base becomes more complex, it makes more difficult to organize it in an efficient way. Of course, you can look at the most optimized blueprints and copy paste them everywhere, but it takes away the satisfaction of making something entirely by yourself.

And I have this obsesion with filling every gap in my base with buildings. I don't like wasting space.
