Nothing particularly good about the Wolfenstein series.

First game was something we played as kids because it was revolutionary. I remember being blown the fuck away until seeing Doom. At that point, everybody forgets about Wolfenstein because it's just a really boring, larval version of Doom. Go ahead and ask Romero.

And that's about it. All later games are middle of the road whatever. RTCW is severely and retroactively overrated by people who developed a nostalgia for the title, mostly because of the multiplayer portion.

The New Order had some annoying flaws that brought it down (hitscanning out the fucking ASS, a bit too scripted, reliance on stealth sections [even if basically optional]) but I still enjoyed it greatly.

Was The Old Blood good? Totally slipped by me on release.

It depends on the game, but Hitler is usually mentioned as still being around in some fashion. He was implied to still be alive the end of RTCW, a newspaper clipping you can find in Old Blood has an interview with him that refers to a "failed terrorist attack on Castle Wolfenstein" and how he is actually uninjured, and I believe another newspaper clipping that you can find in New Order featured another interview with Hitler where he is described as looking "sickly and green" or some shit.

I'm sure if Hitler was straight up dead it would have clarified a while ago, but the developers are obviously keeping it ambiguous for a reason.

it's a very contrasting game

it was kind of similar to Inglorious Bastards, where the trailer made it look much sillier than it actually is
there are a few funny and over-the-0top moments, but what caught me and a lot of people off-guard is that occasionally BJ mutters to himself about things in the environment, and it shows a much darker and more serious side

not to mention a lot of the side story is VERY dark, one of particular note is a series of diaries you get which record a young woman "Ramona" who has her life ruined by the war, and starts becoming a black widow of sorts (lures german soldiers in with romances, then horribly murders them) and the ending of the diaries have an amazing twist which makes the whole thing even darker and more personal

however the gameplay has robo-nazi's, dualwielding for everything (including automatic shotguns), and loads of other great shit
