Why is this game so popular when Eternal and Shadowverse exist ?

Both these games have more consumer friendly business models and have much deeper game mechanics.

I would have said brand fidelity but most people I know playing HS never played another blizzard game before.

So what is it then ? Marketing ?

There is casual and then there is brain dead.
Mobas or CS have high skill ceilings at competitive play which makes them interesting for people into that kind of shit because they have a progression margin.

HS doesn't have anything. The game is so simple anyone can master it in little time. There is no strategy or thinking involved, which gets boring very quickly if you are willing to pour a consequent amount of time in it.

I am baffled to see those streamers spending 5h a day on this shit, I would probably kill myself out of boredom
