The furthest I've gotten on Expert without using a continue is stage 26 or so. Really close, but not enough to get to Master.
What's fucked up is that you need to get there without using a continue, then beat the fucking master levels to unlock Extra. I've unlocked three of them from beating Beginner.

I unlocked Master but I don't think I ever beat it. That was like 10 years ago, I might find the game again and give it a try.
