It's pretty fun when you really figure it out and aren't just je suis monte constantly, and you can keep tri-juice up constantly. Though my main problem with it is that it has a lot of multi-hit attacks where the actual weapon damage is spread among the attacks, not inflicted on each hit, and sometimes the third hit of the main triple hit attack misses. So it kind of stradles this ground between SnS and DB, where it is slower and worse than DB, and less safe (locked into multi-hit attack animations) than SnS with mounting as the only positive for losing item use. I just prefer SnS or DB to it when I want to play that rapid-fire close range playstyle.

Shit might be a strong word but I still haven't found a reason to use another weapon than SA. It's too good on anything but Alatreon to bother learning other weapons.
