Video game prices haven't inflated much, if at all over the years, though. 20 bucks is still roughly 1/3rd the cost of a new console release at full price.

Thank you, I'm tired of dipshits posting that image like it makes some kind of relevant argument.
Even back then many pc games did in fact go for more than 20$, most that didn't were the shitty games that wouldn't have passed even the NES's loose requirements to get on the system.

Plus the pc isn't swamped with cheap point and click adventure games anymore, making the image even less relevant.

Computer games were EXTREMELY niche in those days, the only people who had computers were either businesses (with DOS), rich people (again with DOS), or Europeans (with C64s and other non-PC standard computers).

And getting on the NES was no easy ordeal, you had to buy a dev kit and licensing, as well as pay for the production of cartridges. But console development, while initially more expensive, was also exponentially more profitable; Slalom being a hit on the NES was the reason why Rare (then Rare Coin-It, previously Ultimate Play The Game) abandoned computers entirely.

It's not, you pay for Riot Points or 'RP'. And with RP, you use to purchase skins or characters.

They do have something called a "mystery gift" where you get a random skin chosen from all the skins above a certain price-grade for half the price of the lowest level skin you could get out of the box. (so for 490RP, you could get a 750 or higher skin at random among any skin outside of limited skins) The gimmick is that you can't buy them for yourself outside of events, you have to have a friend buy them for you.

I've gotten a lot of holiday skins, like Zombie Brand for instance out of Mystery Gifts when you could buy them for yourself. And even Pulsefire Ezreal(one of the most expensive ingame skins) for 490RP.

I make way more than enough money so I don't give a fuck. Even flew to Japan for the granblue concert, so yeah that's small change for me really.

What's £230 a month in average? Nothing. And that's far from most Japanese big spenders.

You're not alone, buddy. 2.1k on PAD here

What exactly were you spending it on though?
How can a phone game suck $3600 out of one person?

Gacha with shit drop rate, simple as that.

$3 per roll (roughly), 6% chance for a SSR (mostly rolling when it's 6%). So that's $50 per SSR character/summon in average.

Now you can get duplicate character/summon or low tier ones you don't really need so you just roll more. And there's a mechanic that enables you to pick "what you want" when you reach $800 spent over couple days, which I did do couple times.

Now the way I see it is that I easily spend 4 hours a day in average on the game, so I don't mind spending that much for that very reason. I wouldn't spend as much if I'd play casually 15 minutes a day.

Nigga you gotta be able to find a better use for 230 yurogook dollars a month. Doesn't matter if that's a hours worth of your time, idk. I'm just adamantly against any kind of micro-transactions and grindy phone games.

No, don't do this. Video games are awful to invest in. If you want to invest in something, do so with stocks or something. Video game markets are unpredictable. See: Atari games.

Happens to many players actually that's why publishers do everything they can to get you subscribe as soon as you register (remember SWTOR).

Well that's beyond retarded to spend 1/3 of your income on ANY games, regardless if Facebook or retail AAA titles.

My annual salary bonus is already bigger than what I spend in a whole year on this game. And it's about 90% of the total money I spend in gaming in a year (pirating pretty much everything otherwise or colleagues/friends lend me PS4 games after they're done with them.)

In term of quality (visual assets, music etc.) some mobile/browser games are on par with AAA products, actually most people working on Granblue were poached from Square Enix hence why the soundtrack is top notch for example. The community and everything around it is extremely solid as well, it's more than just [insert random shit Facebook game here].

I perfectly know that gachas are a fucking scam, but there isn't 50 ways for the game to be profitable. Either the millions players would ALL have to pay a little (like for a retail game), either you need the ~10% of people spending money to subsidize the game for the everyone else.

well, have you been buying sub yearly or monthy? it's just simple fucking math. multiply the price of sub plus 12 then subtract 5. then add in like what 60 x 5 ?

Also, I sleep pretty soundly at night knowing that a lot of my money went straight to the pockets of content creators, who are mostly aspiring artists and college students.
