Unreal Engine 4 and it has actual camera control like Mario Sunshine. There are times where it's absolutely necessary to fix the camera so you know where you're going.
The only similarities to 3D World is how you control him in mid-air, the swimming, and a couple of jump techniques. But he has almost every jump technique from all 3D Mario games.

This is probably a shitpost but Super Mario Odyssey even has simple fluid dynamics, like you create waves that bounce off of other objects and swirl realistically. they are doing a better job than other companies with far more powerful hardware
