I understand that BG&E2 was basically what he wanted the original game to be and he had to "settle" for a relatively humble action-adventure game instead, but he's being WAY too ambitious. Jade is nice and likable, but she's only mildly deeper of a character than Tintin. The archetypical French Sci-fi world is far more important of a "character" for BG&E, drawing from similar sources as Luc Besson did, like Moebius, Heavy Metal magazine in general, Valerian, and various 60s and 70s paperbacks.

Given the importance of that world, exploring that rather than focusing on one specific character portrait is a logical step.
The thing that I disliked about the trailer was actually that there wasn't enough water, that's way more symbolic of the BG&E to me than any individual character.
