I like to wait for games with online multiplayer to go cheap, then buy several up at once, then give the extra copies to friends who might be interested, and store one or two to find out what to do with later.

If you don't want /v/ friends (understandable) you can always just look into joining groups and guils, take activity and be patient and talk about yourself (just cut out any of the fetish part, lil tip unless you are joining a fetish group). If things goes sour you move on, if not then you are on your way to make internet friends.

In real life? Join up in groups and converse with people, you may not be good at it and be socially disgusting, but you will get better and you will strike with some kind of friend unless you are really, really unlucky.

Oh simple. Look for a game that falls into the category you like on steam and go into the groups tag and look around for the least meme-y one (or maybe you want that, you do you) or literally google [Game] groups.
