I'm about to begin pic related but I heard that vanilla is kinda ugly. Do I really need to mod the game to make it playable? Is it hard/does it take much time? Never modded anything before in my life.
just start vanilla, when you get bored then start adding the mods

You can mod it to look as pretty as you like but it's just putting sprinkles on shit. Gameplay is complete garbage.

this
you can start modding by looking at the nexus top files if you really feel like it
but personally i've been looking at mod compilations

Buy my new remaster, The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim Special Edition for fantastic upgraded graphics.

there's a couple mods to make the flora a bit more lush, if you're a graphicsfag I'd say those are pretty much a must
That aside, just try it out first. It's really not as bad as some people will have you believe.and remember that to some ""people"" skyrim is literally a screenshot simulator, don't follow their mod advice if you want a playable game
