The average person doesn't give a shit about government Snooping. I asked close to 3 dozen people what they thought about it and 90% of them said "Doesn't bother me, I have nothing to hide, if it helps catch terrorists its a good thing".

Both Labour and the Conservatives majority voted in favour of the Snoopers Charter and it quickly passed, this new bill will probably pass with the same level of resistance (none).
>>
>>380635940
>The EU was started to ease trade and industry between nations.
Which in turn deters the will to go to war, if you have profitable ties with a country you think twice before going to war with them. Especially if both you and said country are part of an organization who looks down on warmongering and would backup the threatened part.

The EU was made to fucking stop pointless wars.

Standard price for a PC game use to be £29.99. Now it's £40-50 with 60 on occasion.

And don't give me bullshit like "but inflation" because wage growth has not kept up with inflation at all. Video game price has almost doubled, but wages have not.

Fucking this.

There is no metric by which vidya should have increased this much, especially not on PC.

The reason console games used to be more expensive was licensing for the console. That doesn't exist on PC. It's why they were traditionally cheaper. Obviously someone realised that they could just make more money from the games in general.

precisely - it was created as a bulwark against despotic regimes which had tried to conquer Europe and against communism

which is why it's the ultimate irony that what it's become is a democratically unaccountable, supranational set of institutions essentially ruled by the Germans

not to mention the fact the European unity is a myth - just look at the debt crisis and the lengths countries went to to hide the fact that they were cheating on reporting their budget deficits

It honestly means nothing for the average guy, the problem is that is a huge slippery slope. Today they're screening what you access, tomorrow they are restricting what you access, the day after they are controlling what you access. Excuses will keep coming and since it'll be just "oh they already do X, if they add Y on top of it it won't make a difference at all for us" resistance will be minimal.

Ideally you'd have solid enough trust in your leaders to allow such measures but we're very, very far from idealism.

I don't know about britbongland but that still sounds kind of bullshit to me. I just checked Zavvi and most of them are £25-£35. I used to import some years ago and they were never under £25 then either.

Anyway a AAA PC game cost about the equivalent of €40 here in Sweden back in the late '90s (and that's without adjusting for inflation, so relatively they would have been much more expensive), with zero chance of a discount until years later when they were re-released in Gold/Classic/Xplosiv bargain bin editions.

Now a new AAA game on Steam costs €40-60, with plenty of options for discounts upon release (GMG, HB etc.), usually 25% off within a few months, and sometimes 50% off after a year or so.

Overall I find the situation great, especially compared to my favorite ice cream which has pretty much doubled in price (non-adjusted) during the same time frame.

>I hate this. I remember where you'd be paying £20 for a brand new AAA PC game. Now it's £40/£50.
That's why I refuse to do it.

Your PC game is £40? I'm either pirating it or getting it off CD keys for 20-30 and you're seeing zero percent of the money. Go fuck yourself.

How's the EU working out for Greece, Italy, Spain, and Portugal? Haven't they had upwards of 25% unemployment since the 2008 recession? Also, didn't Hungary basically default when they "renegotiated" their debts with Germany? Get your shit together Europe.

Also, the EU formed because the US wanted a united western Europe, and France wanted economic dominance over Germany. Funny how that worked out.
