If videogames are your primary hobby, you should probably fund the creators of the games you like so you can see more of the content you like in the future.

If you liked a game, but it didn't sell well, it's never going to get a sequel.
>>
>>380627815
by paying for games you increase the chance of a sequel
judging by your picture, you only need to buy nier automata as all the other games are trash

I always wonder how malware-infested most PC gamers' computers are. Every torrent comes attached with malware. Yes, every single one. Even if you take precautions, like using virtual boxes, you will get malware from a torrent. Most of which can't be detected by garbage free programs like Malwarebytes.

>Piratefags
Fucking kek. Devs have been trying to find ways to keep making money off their games for a long time due to how one-hit video game entertainment usually is. Pirating is a minority and simply an excuse for them to pad up any lost sales, which most of the time is too minuscule to be worth all the effort. Microtransactions are used by even mobile devs who don't have to worry about piracy, so your argument makes no sense.
>>
>>380629301
lol what. There are more games coming to pc now than ever.
>>
>>380628107
You realize that retards like you only know how to operate the power button and thus to make more money, it's profitable to also make things work on console despite it being a completely objectively inferior platform in every way. It has fuck all to do with piracy and every company that has ever studied it scientifically has proven that.

People paying for games is why PC is getting so many games now in the first place.
If you have an income and can afford games its your moral duty to pay for them.
And you can call people who acualy buy games retards all you want wo them you would not be getting free games in the first place.
Only man children defend piracy.
Only ok reason to ever pirate is a lack of money.
Many countries acualy dont have salaries big enough to make buying games a regular thing which is why so many countires have such low regional prices compared to the rest of the world.
>>
>>380630534
Hopefully only you because it's retarded to buy a console that isn't hacked yet when you're going to wait anyway when you can buy it later fully hacked for you and without praying you are on the right firmware.
>>
Love these mental gymnastics. "B-b-but devs ruin games and casualize sequels so I'm not giving them my money!!"

Kek, you clearly like the game enough to pirate it. Just say you're a poorfag and can't afford them, you'll look less ridiculous that way.
>>

Piratefag logic is calling people who pay for games retards, despite the fact that the games wouldn't exist if nobody paid for them.

Looks like console-only really is the future. I guess that explains the high number of console exclusives compared to last gen.
>>
>>380628181
i dont buy games for over $20. Most of the budget is wasted on marketing / being pocketed. I have not played a game in recent time that has enough quality content to satisfy me to spend $60 on day one.
>>
>>380631118
Devs make games for a broad audience these days, so basically, there's enough people paying for the games for people to keep it "successful". Honestly, there's no reason to pirate personally considering how shitty games have become. Who would want to pirate shit like life is strange or fucking undertale.
>>
>>380630917

Kek anon, you realize there are more games than the AAA? Devs go out of business every day because their niche game was pirated a thousand times, but only legitimately bought <100 times.

As an example, let's look at Vocaloid Dex (not a game, but software nonetheless). It needed just 1,000 sales to be considered a success. It was pirated 10,000 times and did not originally reach its 1,000 sales goal. Yet you mean to say pirating isn't an issue?

>english vocaloid developed by americans

>>
>>380632280
Most games that dont make sales is because their game tend to be shit. Also it is due to lack of business sense. But any dev claiming they lost sales cause of pirating likely didnt have a good game to begin with. The market always decide and if no one wanted to pay for it, it meant it wasnt worth paying for. Don't blame pirates for that. Blame your game for not being good enough.
>>
modding with steam workshop is pretty cool. I liked Steam's approach to piracy in earlier years, to make quality platform and not punish pirates but rather reward legitimate customers.
>>
>>380633164
>Most games that dont make sales is because their game tend to be shit
Reddit logic. How little knowledge do you have of the gaming industry that you think this is true? Hell, most games that /v/ loves didn't make their sales targets, because they didn't cater to the masses. When people pirate games like these, we never see sequels to them.

>>
>>380634367
>Crytek said due to high piracy they moved to consoles
And they're not the only ones. But it's human nature to defend one's own actions, so don't expect pirates to admit how shitty what they're doing is. They'll just say all devs suck or something, despite still wanting to play their games.

Yeah, I think the SJW controversy with Pillars of Eternity is what red-pilled on me on the subject. How devs can go back and retroactively patch-out things that are considered controversial. Given how politically sensitive everything is, I can see more devs beginning to follow this trend (steam is particularly bad when it comes to this, as the client forces you to play with the latest patch).

With that being said, would a VPN tangibly help with hiding my activities?
>>
>>380641640
it would theoretically hide all your activities, but most companies don't care about vidya. The worst you would probably get is a slap on the wrist email about what you downloaded.

Based on the most recent article on torrentfreak it seems okay, mullvad just seemed more professional the way they went about it, and swedes legitimately have a use for it due to their draconian government so it's okay.
As long as you don't pick a proxy serb in one of the five eyes countries it's okay, probably.

Crytek's games are all garbage and they, like every other shit developer, use piracy as an excuse as to why their shit game didn't sell well.

The truth is, looking at both audiences overall, console players have very low standards and as long as it looks pretty, it will generally sell pretty well if advertised. On PC, if it is actually fun and plays well, it will sell while looks are secondary and a way to use its superior processing power.

PC requires quality and flexibility while consoles require that it works, even if barely, and looks good.

It's been shown time and time again. The lazy developers are the ones who don't like PC. There are devs who are still entirely or almost entirely PC only devs who make very good money and have been doing so for years just fine. They don't seem to have a problem with """piracy""" or sales.

>>380627815
The only reason I don't pirate is because I'm autistic about virus and malware and I'd spend more time nervously looking at my task manager than playing the game itself.
If I put some effort to get into a good private tracker, would that be surely 100% malware free?
>>
>>380651406
Not really. Yes to some extent but a virus or two does make its way there on occassion.

Honestly, if you just know who the big players are, you should be fine. I haven't gotten a virus from anything since the limewire days where I thought a 23kb music file was just someone doing a better job at compressing it.

Yeah, PC players have incredibly high standards, plus they're a fickle bunch, and will try to find any reason not to buy a game (lack of 60fps, lack of graphics options, performance, game length, Denuvo, DLC, etc. etc.) and they're able to nitpick since the can just pirate otherwise.

Release really needs to be rock solid from every aspect, which must really suck for game creators, but I wouldn't have it any other way, otherwise what would be the point compared to consoles?
>>
>>380651406
>autistic about virus and malware
