It really depends on how creative the developers are. There are a number of characters they can use which would make for different fighting styles. And sure ostensibly it'd seem all similar, but you also have to factor in the normals each character can have and even special moves (Gotenks has a ton of cool unique moves). ChiChi in Super DBZ was handled really well, plus there are characters like Videl which probably wouldn't have ki blasts and play like a rushdown character.

Dust is the universal overhead mechanic and by doing crouching (2D) Dust you get a sweep. If you hold it up (5D8) you get a Homing Jump which let's you do an air combo and inputting (5D6) allows you to do a Homing Dash which let's you get a ground combo with a ton of corner carry. No links at all.
