This series has had anime shit since MH1. I don't know where this torrent of "LE GROUNDED WESTERN RPG" memers came from, but it has literally never not had excessively JRPG nonsense in it. I'll admit that the Meowstress anime ED was pretty goofy and jarring, but for what its worth, that's legitimately as far as it has ever gotten. I don't want CoD Ghillie Suits and Machineguns in MH.

The only overtly anime thing is the ending sequences in X/XX, and they are only there for when you complete village, and they only play once. We've had far sillier villages over the years, and many of them are far more SUPER KAWAII than Meowstress. In fact Meowstress is treated like a weirdass by most of the other NPCs and she gets ostracized as a result, similarly to Neko (Means "Cat") and that retarded Wyverian Trader.

Well clearly they are failing. That environment is actually extremely interesting, unlike yet another dense jungle with some periodic "Totally not context sensitive rock vines". That monster's design is also similarly horrifying, and would definitely fit right into MH. Then you also have the immediate emphasis on teamwork to battle a monster, instead of running away from it.

Brute Wyverns are far more stylized and defined than a pink T-Rex with a giant booger flap. They always have been. Elder Dragons are never "realistic" and are always far off in an extreme, and Valfalk fits the mold perfectly. This meme image is bad because it tries to compare Booger-Rex to Deviljho, despite Jho being coated in spines, having many rows of teeth, and a giant glowing gut.
