I asked earlier, but didn't get any responses. How do I reinvigorate the love for video games that I once had?
>>
hope is more or less lost. move onto other things or make great games yourself.
>>
Do other things. Everything in moderation. No matter how much you like pizza, if you had pizza three times a day, every day for a month, you'd end up fucking hating pizza.

Read a book. Hell, read a whole series. (I suggest the Hyperion Cantos by Dan Simmons.) Start learning a foreign language. Go hiking. Start jogging or lifting. Join a Meetup group and go do something you've never done before. Do literally anything other than play vidya 24/7, and when you finally DO play some vidya, it's a mildly new fun thing instead of being the same thing you've already done for 50 hours this week alone.
>>
Pick your games based on gameplay rather than superfluous shit like waifus and edgelord plotlines.
>>
stop spending so much time on your computer/console, seriously.

if you take your mind off vidya for a few days you will start craving them and have a much better time playing.
>>
Go take a drive.

Take a break abd enjoy another hobby for a bit. Can you play an instrument? Get a shitty accoustic guitar and follow these videos

https://www.justinguitar.com/en/BC-000-BeginnersCourse.php

That's just an example. It can be anything, really, but guitar is what worked for me. Just go and do something different. As time passes, new, exciting games will come out, and you'll forget about your most recent playthroughs of your old favorites, making them fresh again. You'll also be a more well rounded person for getting a new hobby.
>>
Either take a break from vidya for a while or go back and play those games that sparked your love for games in the first place
>>
You don't. You develop a different kind of relationship with games, a more c a s u a l one, and move on. You stop comming to this place every hour (you'll see that once every few days, then every other week, is enough to keep up), do more stuff with your time, and only come back to playing games on that rare weekend where you really ache to play a specific thing you remember having a good time once.
>>
Take a break.

For a month or two just pretend that vidya doesn't exist. Don't play vidya, don't browse vidya related stuff, say off 4chan in general, just do anything else. Anything. Vidya doesn't exist for a month or two.

Learn to cook a couple things, read some books, watch a couple of those tv shows you've been meaning to watch, walk the dog, get some cleaning and yard work done, have a beer with friends, just go on a hike or maybe do some camping, make something like a model or fiddle with electronics like an arduino or model rockets, go to your local porn shop and stick your dick through the hole in the wall, anything. Literally anything other then vidya. It's super fucking important that you don't just browse vidya related stuff on the internet too. If it wouldn't exist without vidya, you're not allowed to do it. You have to give it at least a month, but two would be better.

After a month or two, marvel at how the flickering ember for vidya has been rekindled into a raging inferno of passion for it. All you have to do is take a break.

Hmmmm, this is actually decent advice. The only problem is that I'm addicted to my computer and /v/ is always the main place I come to.
>>
>>380614086
explore new aspects of it: speedrunning or cuhrayzee
>>
Alcohol is the only way I can enjoy games anymore
>>
>>380615676
>and /v/ is always the main place I come to
And there is your fucking problem right there. Play games and never, for the love of good go here at that duration of time.
>>

Take a break from vidya.
Not just a night off but multiple days off.
Do other things like books, movies, hang with some friends (if you have them). Shot that can get you away from vidya for awhile
>>
>>380615676
The first handful of days are the hardest.

You'll be sitting there staring at your computer and be like UGH WHAT DO I EVEN DO?! Eventually you'll start thinking "I'm hungry but cooking sucks. Eh. I guess I'm not doing anything else" and you'll dig up an easy chicken recipe or something and make it and go "Oh, well I guess that wasn't so bad."

You just have to get up and do it. "It" being anything other than vidya. The first couple of times you'll have no motivation to do it but the more you actually do something else the easier it is to get up and out and do it. But yeah, the first couple days are pretty shitty. You just have to stick with it.

Stop going to /v/.

Find a different hobby or otherwise keep yourself busy for a week or three. I suggest going whole-hog into movies, model building, or reading.

When you start playing games again, DO NOT COME BACK HERE for opinions on what you just played. Come to a decision on your own whether you thought it was good or not.
>>
>>380616903
Why are you still here then?
>>
>>380617068
Because I lost my way.
>>
>>380614086
Play old games, anon. No politics, no "cinematic" bullshit, no qte. Just fun. When I lost my love for a while I used coin-ops and played MANY fun 8-16 bit games. Play some of those game. They are straight up fun. Most of all they are games. No more no less.
>>
>>380617068
Because I walk this way.
>>
>>380615905
Same, but also pot. If I'm sober, I can't enjoy any vidya at all.
