D44M is one of the best single player action FPSs I've ever played. Amazing soundtrack. Cool melee mechanics. On advanced difficulties the challenge feels earned and not artificial. Interesting lore.

also to answer your question: Nu-Doom doesn't have any actual level design, it's just corridor shooter from one arena to the next arena.

Yeah you either didn't play game or haven't played any other AAA Fps shooter in the past five years. Because Doom is still fairly linear but at least has some backtracking and exploration
