What is up with their obsession with slowing down time? Finally got around to playing most of their titles with the PC releases and they all have this gimmick. Bayonetta, Vanquish, Rising, and Transformers. Don't have a Wii U, but I'd imagine Bayo 2 still has it. Don't know about W101. Haven't tried Nier yet. Don't give fuck about Star Fox Zero and TMNT because of the poor reception.

It's a common trope in Japanese action shows, either by slowing down time (Bayonetta) or by having characters fight so quickly that it feels like time around them is slower (Rising). Platinum also tends to reuse mechanics, either simply because they feel it's expected of their games, or because they end up being hired to slap together something on a short deadline.
It goes way further back than that. DMC1 had the an accessory that let you freeze time and Viewtiful Joe's entire gameplay was based on time manipulation.

Okami had it as well, as do Nier and W101.
It's just a way to allow for more technical, precision fighting without making it impossible for the human brain or thumbs to keep up. MGR's blade mode wouldn't have been feasible if it wasn't slow motion, for example.
Because ZA WARUDO nigga. That's why.
because its fukken cool
