Vanquish, Nier automata, MGS1 and 5, a variety of JRPGs, they just leave me cold.

The only ones I've actually enjoyed are Dark Souls 1 and 3.

I stopped liking anime years ago so no. They do have their own quirks though that you need to be open to. What I like about Japanese games is mainly that the gameplay tends to be solid as fuck, as opposed to western games where most of the time it's clunky and poorly thought out crap and the purpose of it isn't really to be fun, challenging or satisfying, it's just there to look cool. They don't seem to value good gameplay as much as Japan does. They would rather pretend to be movies.

Japs have been making games since the fucking 80s. They're responsible for game changers from everything to Space Invaders and Pacman to Daytona USA, Shenmue, Super Mario Bros and made unique games in all sorts of genres like Silent Hill, Tenchu and hundreds of other unique games.

Xcom 2 was a sour downgrade of a sequel. Haven't played Ori, it looks pretty basic from what I have seen but I wont hold it against you. The other games you mentioned are pretty fucking old at this point, guess I should have specified recent games.
