PS2 emulation is just pretty shit unfortunately.
>>
I thought there are guides on setting specific games up on the forums
>>
>>380588047
What's wrong with PCSX2 anon? IMOQ runs fine, I completed the first three emulating them in PCSX2
>>
>>380588283
there's a wiki page for most games for config too, although it's down for the last few weeks
i've not emulated .//hack but most ps2 games emulate to a playable level in my experience with only a few exceptions
>>
>>380588047
Use software mode.
>>
>>380588719
Try and find a cached copy from Google.

The only people who have a problem with PCSX2 are those who can't read a wiki.

My first piece of advice for anyone trying to use pcsx2 is to download the latest dev build instead of using the stable release that's almost a year old

You don't.

All games emulate at acceptable level.

Yeah I'm emulating Yakuza 1 at the moment and I get ghosting and extreme bloom. I settled on using the blurry as fuck softwarre mode.
>>
>>380590758
You probably have to use offset hacks and such to remove it. Something if it is a post processing thing messing with skipdraw can also remove it.
>>
>>380590758
This is because a lot of PS2 games use shit effects like that, increasing resolution just makes it even more obvious.

Use software mode in DX11.
I played it and enabled some of the settings to make it run at a more constant 59.whatever. It seems to run just fine without any glitches aside from slowdown when a lot of shit is going on but I think that's also a problem under normal circumstances on PS2.

Dude, you have it setup correctly, just read the damn text in your picture, it loaded the 1.5.0 plugins. PCSX2 doesn't even install like a regular program, you can have multiple versions that are in different folders in your programs, documents, desktop, etc, as long as you name the shortcut "1.4.0 , 1.5.0 , etc" you'll be fine since you'll know what version you're running if it isn't obvious enough from the startup.

It was already brought up some posts ago, but holy shit, please download the latest dev build instead of the 1.4.0 stable build. You can now equip thermal goggles in MGS2 and the frame rate doesn't shit itself. Bravo PCSX2 devs.
>>
>>380597504
Make sure to check the right settings, there are some that majorly improve the framerate without much cost and are commented accordingly in the menu.
The weird graphical glitches for R&C are probably due to mipmapping issues that should be fixable under the D3D11 mode. I experience some slowdown in R&C when a lot of objects are on screen but it's probably nowhere near as bad as the default settings that you're likely to be using.

PC port is awful, setting it up to work with Windows 10 and a 360 pad or any modern controller is terrible, emulating it is way easier, only downside now is that the M4 and AK are harder to aim because you can't lightly press square without a PS2 controller.

If you use this guy's mod then it's a lot easier. I remember how much of a pain in the ass it was to set up on earlier versions of windows, but this makes it as easy as a few clicks. I'm on Windows 10 and it fully supports my Xbone controller, even the triggers and rumble. He even has it set up so you can swap between 2 different control schemes; a classic one and one more reminiscent of MGSV. That's on top of being able to just type in the resolution you want and having it work instantly

>I'm using Steam's controller desktop configuration

Let me save you hours of headaches: completely disable ALL Steam controller profile bullshit in big picture mode. Only let games detect a controller like normal like it has been before the big picture updates came out. Big Picture and how it saves all your configs to the cloud and not locally can mega-fuck your controller up when not running Big picture or when running other programs that use your controller.

So completely uncheck everything in Big Picture mode for detecting ANY controllers. Download and install DS4 Windows (may have to legacy install), and exit Steam whenever you're running an emulator or playing a non-steam game that uses a controller.

You have no clue at how hard emulation used to be for consoles. N64 and PS1 emulation used to be a deathrace with switching settings in multiple different plugins until you found what was bearable.

9/10 ps2 games you can check the wiki for good settings and play. My pre-built 500 dilly dollar comp with a GTX 750 TI and 3.5ghz amd can run Metal Gear Solid 2 with 60 fps despite it being one of the more demanding games. Get a real system and git gud

Well I guess to each their own, but I think emulated games lose their charm. Some games look way to clean and the shadows and colors you get from a TV are completely gone. Plus via network there's no loss of framerate and load times are fast. But I can see why you'd emulate instead if you don't have a nice TV.

PCSX2 not only runs more games (due to the nature of having more available games) but also runs a larger % of its library than Dolphin(95%+ library playable compared to the 89% of Dolphin). PCSX2 also runs a higher % of games to completion or near to flawlessly than Dolphin. Considering how Dolphin counts shit like Skyward Sword, Red Steel 2(constant wii mote disconnections) and Tatsunoko vs Capcom(stuttering to the point of unplayability) as playable I wouldn't put much weight behind its lists.

PCSX2's software renderer will run some multiplat games at a higher framerate than Dolphin's hardware renderer, at the same resolutions.

Dolphin has removed multi-core support, whereas PCSX2 will support up to one less core than your CPU has.

Dolphin also STILL stutters for every game.

We know man. That's why OP felt like playing the IMOQ ones first, those are not coming, GU is coming... which is good enough.

Having the franchise resurrect a bit really gives us hope that maybe a new game will happen at some point.

The age of darkness of VG is about to end...
>>
>>380606198
I think Nintendo used simpler hardware and software in their consoles, so they are easier to emulate? I don't know. I just know the PS2 was a bitch to emulate from the very start.

Remember that if a ps2 game has the gc port, it's better to emulate it on Dolphin.

Also remember not to act like a retard when using PCSX2. It's not perfect but it's pretty much works. It's not a program where it can run perfectly in a single go. You need to find out how tweak it and it's pretty much works.

People always said this but ppsspp is far from perfect. It does able to run amazingly on some games, but it doesn't support all games.

PCSX2 biggest bottleneck is your RAM speed

SSD will not help. Keep in mind the console was designed to read from a DVD. It's not gonna be polling the ROM image constantly, only during loading screens
>>

Wasn't that the emulator where the developer was annoyed by people begging him to fix the pokemon games so much that he now outright refuses to remove those bugs?

Oh right. Forbidden Memories is super grindy too. I don't really get why I like it desu. I think it's the fusion system. The rest of it is very very simple and spell cards other than equipment cards are almost completely unviable, because you can only play one card per turn. Traps can be okay if you don't have a way to get a stronger monster than the enemy. I think the game is actually really poorly designed. It literally does nothing right and is still somehow enjoyable. I guess it's a guilty pleasure.

My high end PC fucking died and gave me a BSOD that scared the shit outta me.
Granted it was a previous version of the emulator and I learned that game shits itself the higher the resolution.
Raw Danger also consumes the soul of my PC once you get to the flood sections. The water effects in that game are beyond broken.
>>
>>380642851
Agreed, but there are a good deal of people, who will no longer own up to it, who genuinely thought that the underlying systems of FF8 were complicated. They fucking weren't and I understood them fully as a preteen. I was just trying to sympathize with that poster because I honestly pick up psx2 every 6 months and have to relearn how to use it in under an hour.

It isn't that hard to use if you know the basic shit about emulation, which, in this day and age, you should know if you want to play older games imo.

Never, in the entire time I have played both Yu-Gi-Oh! Duelist of the roses and the Japanese version Shin Duel Monsters has that camera bug happened to me. The only real bugs I can say is the beep sound after the battle, but that happens very occasionally.

I just literally went into the game to verify this camera bug you are speaking about, and I used the same Red-Eyes Dragon for this test. A screenshot does indeed proves something: compare my screenshot with the moment 3:25 in the video (my red eyes isn't cut in half).

Have you not considered that this ''camera bug'' is the result of using the Widescreen Hack?

Anyways your responses are pretty aggressive, so I pretty much expect a ''fuck off'' reply.

Sure. In the video you posted the battle animation starts exactly at 3:22. By your description, this camera bug ''zooms'' into the screen taking part of the action. In the moment 3:25 we can see the red eyes is cut in half, a product of the ''zoom''; meanwhile in my screenshot that corresponds exactly to the same moment 3:25 my battle animation is not ''zoomed'' in so I don't experience a cut in half red eyes black dragon. I hope I made myself clear. My point is PCS2X emulation of Duelist of The Roses is great and I have never experienced a game breaking bug.
