Might as well play them, they're not terrible. Just don't expect much and you'll be fine with them.

Pretty fun to play casually. Bonus, they both have the best companions in the series (Linebeck and Ghost Zelda)

St is pretty charming, but both of those games have huge in-built timesinks that can't be avoided.

Both games have their own critical flaws, but they also have some fairly strong points, as well.

If you do decide to play them, I'd recommend you play them in order. ST fixed or improved everything that PH got wrong and going backwards might be a rough transition.
