on a handful of titles, most of which are total normie bait. For the ones that aren't though, it's great. ps4 has ps now but because that costs a monthly fee people will say it doesn't exist, even though it's arguably even better.
xbox one S has UHD BR drive, and is like $150 cheaper, so naturally that's gonna be a huge deal. HDR is available to all devs on both platforms, they just have to choose to support it. Even regular ps4s and slims support HDR now.

To clarify, betteri n terms of library. streaming is gay. I don't think streaming is better than straight backwards compat. But I'll happily pay $10 a month to play the games I liked on PS3 instead of being able to pop in the last 20 call of duty titles and play them with shit graffix on my xbone.

well I mean, at least I can stream some exclusives. The landmark titles for 360 BC on xbone are fucking call of duty black ops 2, and red dead. both of which are on ps now, plus some actual games people might care about, like white knight chronicles, resonance of fate.

I had an Xbone S for about a month, and ultimately wound up returning it. It's honestly a great console. It's relatively petite/small, and doesn't take up a great amount of space. The power supply is built in, so you're just literally connecting a plug without an obnoxious weight on it. The button on the console itself is analog and clicky which is a nice touch. And I personally like the GUI, although some people have complained about it being slow, and I can't compare it to what was there before.

That being said, the library is still not there if you also have a PC, and for that reason, I could only suggest Xbone to someone who doesn't have a PC and will use the console for multiplats.

PS4, while IMO falling short of the Xbone, does have a superior library when it comes to exclusives, and especially so for Japanese games.

The Pro doesn't "detect" a game and just enables an HDR option. That shit is built into the console and enables it based on output device. Any and all HDR capable games are possible on every iteration of PS4. I dare you to find me a single game that enables HDR for Pro and not regular.

They are probably doing R&D now but would just be shooting themselves in the foot if they announce the PS5 and kill off all the momentum of the PS4. Right now they can just cruise their way to 100m units at the rate they are going. I don't expect PS5 until 2020.

I figured they would try and deal a total death blow to MS with an early release akin to the 360's total coup of the ps3. I suppose you're right, but nothing's really stopping them from continuing support of the PS4, the PS2 was still getting shit up until the PS4's release in most of the world anyway.

Sony is in a position where they can afford to be arrogant and just go on cruise control till the finish line. All they need to do is secure support from the AAA multiplats and continue to release exclusives. There is very little that can happen this late in the generation that will definitively dethrone them. I imagine the earliest we'll hear about specs for a PS5 would be late 2018 because they'll need some serious R&D to provide something that is leaps and bounds above the XboneX. The Pro and XboneX kinda fucked up the generation, I feel like it will last longer than usual.
