Why have Japanese games become so dominant on this board recently?

Western AAA rarely ever churns out good games anymore, while Japan does consistently. Indie games don't have the advertising to hook many people, which is why good indie games like Hollow Knight and Battle Brothers disappear off the radar in a matter of months. It's a poor situation overall, because I want games like Prey for example to come out more often, but the industry is constantly chasing after the last big hit instead of trying to make it's own good game

Here's every Western dev for the next 6 years:
