I respect that they're trying to make each entry unique on a gameplay level, instead of just story and tone. Arts and attacks assigned to a number of weapon characters has the potential to make this the most customizable battle system in the series. That said, it has some issues:
>slow attack animations. Haven't seen enough combat to know for sure if this means battles will take longer (i.e. attack animations take longer, but they may do more relative damage, balancing out the DPS in comparison to the other games)

It will very likely be the same game in all regions, you can just change your region to Japan in your Switch and just buy any game from the Japanese EShop, but there is no point in doing that for games that you can get in your own region. The thing is both the digital games and physical games so far are identical in all regions, the localization files loaded when you run the game only depend on the language you have set on your console.

I find it weird that Rex is a Driver instead of a Diver. He is called a Diver in Japanese, right?

I don't think the game is effectively "slower" than the previous two, and here's why. Considering that at the start of each battle the party can only use autoattacks until they their arts ate charged up, they still do quite a bit of damage especially to the mobs with lower HP (the Bunnits in the video were pretty much dead as soon as the Break art charged up).
Now, remember how far just using autoattacks got you in the previous games even against regular mobs of the same level? They were kind of shit; spamming arts in XCX especially was the way to go. If XC2 can deliver on faster charge upgrades on arts, through levelling them up or gems or whatever, then we'll see a system that's just as fast and doesn't have a shit autoattack.

I played Gears for the first time a month or 2 ago. Gears is very slow, because its an old PS1 game. I liked Blade better than Gears personally. They are very similar games though, Gears is a mix of Evangelion and FF7 (as it was a prototype script for the game that got approves to be its own thing), and Blade takes that result and expands upon some of the core ideas and becomes its own thing. I recommend playing Blade over Gears, but play Gears at some point, its really enjoyable until disc 2 where its clearly rushed

xenogears has the best story in gaming, the gameplay could be better though. Xenoblade 1 is the best way to get into the series because it's the most "consistent" on all fronts despite story being better in gears (and arguable saga trilogy) and gameplay being better in XCX

That battle theme we got reminds me a lot of the song Tornado of Souls for some reason. Especially when it gets to the solo, the rhythm section is reqlly similar in both songs.
