I haven't played the heart of thorns update but a few things I remember it did badly was limited time events, the story, and dungeons. Most dungeon bosses were throw rocks at it or use a gimmick item that makes the boss take damage.

Its alright, the leveling experience and zones were kinda cool 4 years ago but they are nothing that special these days, the classes are kinda cool and their class mechanics are interesting but the lack of actual unique roles they need to perform for the majority of content is disappointing. combat system is cool, smooth, and responsive.

Worst part about it is the plot and lack of challenging, well-developed end-game content. I was actually a GW1/GW2 player who moved on to WoW because the content there is much better and the community is less full of fags and degenerates in terms of proportion. GW2 is a cesspool of queers, feminists, furries and literal cucks.

GW1 was and kinda still is fantastic. Revisited it not so long ago with a friend of mine who had never played it before, and the texturework and art style actually make it playable without it being painful to the eyes even today. The atmosphere, music, combat system, and method of character progression are all quite great, and the short time to complete one of the campaign makes it an alright purchase if you have at least 1 buddy to play it through with. I think its dirt cheap these days anyway.

It's doing it's own thing which is refreshing but that thing isn't particularily deep or amazing.

There are worse games you could be playing but i don't know if it's for everyone.

I still prefered Guildwars 1 because it had more depth and social interactions.

I kind of liked that it actually had something of a 'main story' and that felt pretty involved. Only problem was, everything else felt pretty lacklustre, and the 'Living World' storyline went completely off the rails.

Still, I guess it's alright, considering there's no subscription. Removing more defined roles (and the healer entirely) was still a mistake, though.

It's been 250 years and people aren't buddy-buddy; in fact that is a large part of a charr storyline.

3,000+ hours here: GW2's a lot of fun, but the decisions made post-expansion have not been the best. The expansion wasn't quite the best. Lots of hidden grind once you dig under the surface of the expansion.

* No sub and no gear treadmill means you can break any time for a few weeks/months and still be relevant. I have a friend who is now only getting into the expansion and he's loving it.
* PvP is better than most MMOs but is still pretty shit.
* WvW is the best RvR any game/MMO has at the moment and it's a fucking blast. Currently addicted to it because of the latest update.
* Raids are well-designed, but the balance/pillars of the game design aren't really made for the raiding experience.

If you're interested, hop in. It's often on sale, and leading up to the expansion, you can get the full game for $10. Soonish.

It's more like a reduced treadmill. Exotics (Second Best Stats) are easy to get.

Ascended takes far longer to acquire, but they've been adding slightly faster avenues to do so, the quickest (unfortunately most catch 22) is a toss-up between Fractals and Raiding.

Its a decent game, not great but not horrible infact im playing it right now.

ITs still a populated game at least and there are people who play it.
