>using a "core" party in a JRPG instead of using all characters equally
Why do people do this?
Because Wakka can suck my dick
>>380498716
Because the game encourages one playstyle over the other.
I don't like having to farm enough money to keep everyone in the best equipment.
>>380499101
when was the last time you played a game that required you to have the best equipment?
>>380498904
>not using best character
i bet you use Kimari or Auron anon
>not using your favorite characters
>>380498716
Why would I use shitty characters?
Praise the fuck out of this.
If you don't change party members accordingly to how canon they are in that part of the story or by luck you are disgusting.
>>380498716
I don't do that, but if I did probably half of JRPG I played would be half as long to complete. It makes shit way easier.
Fuck it I'll make my own party members!
>It's an "everybody and their mom joins your party" game
I do like to experiment, but if I find that one party setup works well and the other characters are average at best, I will more then likely stick with said party.
I do try to keep levels up though throughout the party.I am kind of glad that a lot of modern RPGs have either 1/2 or full EXP gain for inactive members. Taking that element of of grinding allows me to want to experiment more, like in P5.
>>380498716
Oh, ok, let me just boot up my revelations savefile and Grind Up all 50 characters to optimization, that wont be fucking BORING
>>380498716
Depends on the game. Usually in the first playthrough of any RPG I try to keep them all balanced since you generally don't know what to expect the first time playing. Repeat playthrough can go either way.
>>380498716
because jrpg gameplay is mediocre. I can't be assed to delve into a jrpg combat just for the fun of it. I'm in it for the world building and story.
>>380498716
i keep the "main" characters in a party and like to switch around the other half whenever I feel like it
Because games don't distribute exp evenly between party members so I have no reason to grind more to use someone with an extremely niche role.
>>380498716
Why would I bother using all party members equally? It just waste time when I can use the same members consistently and get through the game quicker. The only real reason o use other party members is if their gameplay is entirely different, which isn't the case for most JRPGs
If I have no need to switch, then why do it? Also, if I don't like them I'm not using them, that goes for their character and their moveset.
>use same party members from the beginning
>2 of your core members leave the party for story reasons 75% of the way through
>>380503632
>lose best girl
>have to play with Miranda for the rest of the game
Fuck you.
>yfw the game forces you to use characters that you haven't even leveled up
>>380503632
Fucking DDS2.
Because I dont have the time or patience to level the stragglers who happen to join at level 15?
