Let's face it, this game would never get mainstream attention and never will.

First off youre ignoring their stuff like GrimGrimoire and Grand Knights History. Second off the "crop management" in those games were nothing more than a way to use items and were hardly supposed to represent an actual farm -- youre not actually plowing, tilling, planting and working a field. Cooking in these games was nothing more than what you said, a minigame. Youre not actually processing wheat into flour and then cooking bread from that.
