4K is a meme. The size of screen that you need to differentiate between 1080p and 4k while sitting even a few feet away is absurd. The size of screen you would need to differentiate between that checkerboard shit and "true 4k" would be even more insane.

HDR, fps, and screen refresh rate are way more important that resolution unless you're talking a computer monitor or VR.

You have no idea how little extra effort setting up a crossplay system would be do you? All you need is servers (mostly to have an account system where user accounts are generated and tied to the users PSN/Xbox live in a similar method to what SMITE does except you allow multiple platforms to share servers and matchmaking), Parity between console versions, The platform holders to consent and a few more hours of work on the netcode. Best part is you bet your ass people will play the 1st game to do this just for it, some out of curiosity, some fanboys who rallied to their "Cause" and if done perfectly everyone would be playing crossplay and you wouldnt even be able to tell until some guys in game chat ask what people are playing on. The game to manage this would see a spike in sales and interest on all platforms and rake in that cash like no other.

I'll agree with the 720p. 540p to 720p is pretty noticable, though. Going from 720p to 1080p isn't nearly as noticeable. In fact, one could quite easily argue that 720p looks way better than 1080i, which was only ever an option due to the number.

It's like getting a 4k phone that isn't going to be used for VR. There's literally no reason to do so. Cut costs while keeping it looking just as good to literally everyone.

I'd rather get a 720p 120hz OLED TV than a 4k 60hz LED TV. Presuming an average screen size of 55", and sitting 5-10 feet away, it's just a no-brainer.

I used a 32" 60hz 720p LCD Olevia during most of the PS3's life, but I was sitting 6-10 feet away from the screen. It was the perfect size for a dude just starting off in life. In 2013 I upgraded to a 1080p 120hz 40" LED Sony, and I've been pretty content with it.

As I get older, and actually have a place that is worthy of having guests over to, and have a wife who is into vidya, details and reaction isn't as important to me as having a good time.
