Getting tired of games being announced way too early. It's rare when a game gets announced the same year it comes out, unless its a yearly franchise like COD. Why don't they wait before blowing their load?

It could be january '18 which is only six months away
or it could be christmas '18 in which case you're absolutely right
I remember when pixar first teased cars in like 2004 and by the time it came out I had completely disassociated it with the original trailer

>Why don't they wait before blowing their load?
Cause pre orders are important as all fuck to suits. So taken that into account its no wonder shit is teased year/years in advanced for the simple sake of that sweet sweet preorder dosh
Building up hype, also people couldn't stop asking for more info about it.

>Why don't they wait before blowing their load?
Imagine if you'd seen gameplay footage of Other M when they announced it. Would you be excited?
It's really funny when history repeats itself though.

To appease investors and shareholders. Not a lot of people are cool with sinking tons of money into something and not getting any information about it for 3 years.

because then retards don't appreciate it. AAA games usually have 60%+ of their total budget reserved for marketing. it's all hype, now.
see: Bethesda E3 2017.

I get that argument but announcing a game 3 to 4 years before its release kills hype. At least for me, yeah its nice that the FF7 remake exists but since its coming in 2020 I cant get myself to care.

Yeah, it's shit all around. There is NOTHING positive about it. It's part of 'the cancer killing gaming', inextricable from 'pre-order culture', day-one DLC, microtransactions in everything, etc. (with virtue-signalling as their PR shield of choice).
It won't stop unless somehow the masses grow brains and stop supporting it.

Wasn't this going to be done by sucker punch or did they get acquired by insomniac?

But Bethesda consistently announces games a few months before release.

>It's rare
There were loads of games not only shown but also freshly announced at this E3 that are releasing this year.

Everything Bethesda announced at E3 is coming within the next few months.
