You can now swap weapon and armor during missions so probably to let you test which weapon is more effective against a monster. Basically a QoL feature. But nintendildos hate it because MonHun is not coming to the switch.

A good example is skyrim with quest markers, morrowind had a detailed quest log giving you all you needed in order to go complete a quest, Oblivion comes in with lesser detailed logs but more accurate quest markers but still possible to turn them off and do quests, Skyrim comes in with full focus on quest markers and it is near impossible to do quests without them enabled.

Not a nintenbro here. I own a PS4 and play it way more than anything else I own. I wanted Monhun on strong hardware and got it, but I genuinely just wanted more of the same with new features. Quality of life is one thing, but straight up casualization if the rumors are right (and signs are pointing to) isn't what I asked for. I just wanted to go in the direction of "same, but even better".

I'm cautiously optimistic for World but it's hard to be too hyped when I don't know if It's gonna be what I like about Monhun.

I attended a behind the scenes live demo of MH World. Here's what's new from what I can remember.

- The sponge head dinosaur's name is Anjanath
- The map for each level is really big. It's seamless now with no loading times or sectioned off areas. There are now borders denoted by numbers that help hunters easily identify the "section" the monster is in (essentially areas without the partition)
- That firefly thing is called a Scout Fly. You use it to pick up the pheromones of the monsters and it leads you to the monster.
- You can use an SOS flare at any point during the quest to call other hunters. Not sure if that means it has to be local, or online. Not sure if you need to be connected to an online lobby before hand.
- Time limits still exist
- You can quick travel to locations (could be base camp, or places that you discover, they weren't clear on that) on the map at anytime.
- 15 weapons are available. I only saw S&S, HBG, Bow and Arrow, and GS.
- You can throw rocks to distract monsters and lead them off, much like every modern open world survival game these days. A bit irate by that addition.

I'll try to answer any more questions the best I can.

But the problem with damage numbers is it gives you unrealistic amount of accuracy. Rather than going by feel when you land hits based on your positioning and target you now do it based off the big number you get. It makes it easier objectify to land the perfect hit since you have a more accurate feedback system.

Its not gamebreaking, /v/ will blow this the fuck out of proportion, but it isnt a good feature to add anyway.

Eh, i liked the original the most, they dumbed down the difficulty a lot for the PSP games and everything after, and yeah the game improved as it went on, but tri and 3U were just as clunky as anything before it minus the hitboxes, everything is worse when you compare it to 4 and later because the movement was improved so much, and the game used to be clunkier and slower because it was originally designed as a much more methodic and slow game with more varied hunting strategies, but slowly turned more into an action titles, the earlier games just still reflected the older design philosophy more.

Also it shows a bit of the monsters attitude. It throws you to the ground, then leans in to eat you, but then stops, realizes you're still alive and moving, reels back a bit, then moves in to finish you off.

Actually, as the extended trailer shows, theres various ways to escape a monster. There are chasms you can cross using the grappling hook, there are tunnels too small for the monster to fit in, or at least slow it down so you can hide, theres water locations you can escape into, and likely plenty of destructible environments that you can use to slow down the monster or even push it away from you so you can catch your breath. It likely means that you have to learn each map closely to figure out how best to manipulate the environment and use it to your advantage.
