People don't like Metroid as a franchise. They like Super Metroid and the games that play like Super Metroid. If anything about the new 2D game is different, people will bitch to high heaven about it.

Example: The new 2D game seems to allow you to aim in any direction instead of cardinal directions and diagonals. This will probably lead to the game being piss easy.
