It was just the same old placement match bullshit: Second healer only switches to Mercy reluctantly and saltily makes comments on text chat after no one else wanted to take second healer, and the Roadhog refuses to go on voice comms. And no one probably would've spoken up if our Lucio hadn't done a calm greeting to lighten the tone and break the ice.
First round in Ilios goes well, and Mercy brags about a three-man res. Lucio, who had been making the most callouts during the game, says well done in a sincere but not overly enthusiastic tone and says "Let's go, guys. Two more."
Then things go to shit. Next two rounds we get stomped, me (as Soldier), Pharah, and Zarya clam up and stop communicating when Mercy starts ranting in both text and voice chat how incompetent everyone is and blamed Hog for not switching to Rein. All the while Lucio is still playing the mediator, keeps a calm voice, and gently tried to get Mercy to stop blaming everyone and remind everyone it was still doable.
Next round we barely managed to get, so Mercy is still salty and we're still sulking quietly and tuning her out. Last match starts where we're all still in a shit mood except the Lucio.
The round is messy as hell, and we lose and re-cap the point again and again. Finally, close to the end, Zarya up and leaves, and Mercy just types "I give up" in voice chat and sit emotes outside spawn. We figure if this asshole ain't even trying, we're not either. So Roadhog just goes meleeing the nearest background model, and me and Pharah dance emote around the sitting Mercy.
By then Lucio had retaken the point when the enemy team left it to look at our demoralized team just fucking around. They rush back just as overtime triggered, and Lucio goes, "Nice distraction, guys. I'll try to contest as long as I can" as if we planned the whole thing instead of giving up.
Even then we still didn't get off our until we hear Lucio triggers his ult to save himself from dying and keep contesting.

"Sorry, guys. Had to triger my ult to keep this going." I think it was the Lucio APOLOGIZING to us for "selfishly" using his ult while he was the only one actually trying and refusing to even sound angry with us over it that finally got us off our asses. We rush in just as he finally gets murdered and wipe the enemy team to win the game because somehow, while we were being utterly useless, he'd manage to kill the enemy Zen and Ana and inflict damage on the rest during the 1v6 we forced him into. And the dude even finds it in himself to go "Nice one" after the most underserved win. (For us, anyway. Lucio fucking earned that win hard.)
By the time the cards roll out, Lucio is the only one on our team to get a card: 4 Gold Medals, 5 Total Medals. His parting message to us in text chat? "Told you we could do it, guys. Have a nice day! =)"
We got carried by a goddamned Lucio, and the dude didn't even gloat about it or once get mad at all our bullshit. G fucking G.
