I'm hopeful for the game though. The boss battle looked pretty cool. And the animations are really expressive. All of Samus's movement looks very agile. Where in the past games, she moved like she had a stick up her ass. Except the space jump. The spacejump is where the game looks cheap.

Also, I don't know what that yellow stuff is on the walls. But I hope isn't not like a special ability pad. I don't want the game to have giant "USE ABILITY HERE" markers. Infact, I would be happier if they substituted the overt block symbols with something more subtle.

In Super maybe, but Fusion and Zero Mission looked significantly more agile, and that was fitting because they had less floaty control. This looks similar to Zero Mission's animations in 3D, but slower.

Something I noticed was how incredibly out of place the breakable blocks were compared to the rest of the environment. Which you could say is the result of making modelled large platforms and putting breakable blocks next to them, but a good 2D tileset doesn't have that problem.

Nah, look how she runs now. She takes long stride, and really pushes off each step. When she ducks, her whole body gets low, she doesn't simply kneel like before. It's not just the chest piece, it's also the shape of the helmet, the size of the gun, the proportions of the yellow abdomen part, things like that. The overall shape is Other M. The little details, like the spikes on the boots, are changed.

Like, take a look at the thighs, for instance. You have a smooth, sleek Other M thigh with no actual features except for the green dot thing the added. Compared to the Super and Prime designs, where that same thigh piece had tons of texture and wasn't just completely smooth.

The shoulders are higher and wider, more like pre-Other M (in fact they seem larger than ever whereas Other M had the smallest), the helmet is more like Super than anything else (very sharp "chin"), and the yellow abdomen part just above the hips seem to be lower as well (Other M has it particularly high) although I can't find a good enough shot to confirm that quickly. The rest that hasn't been mentioned is pretty much consistent enough between all the designs.

No it doesn't. Almost every helmet design has the chin. What you need to pay attention to is the way the visor wraps around to the sides, like Other M, instead of being mostly on the front like Super. And the fact that he helmet is less pherical, like Prime and Super, and more of an elongated egg shape like Other M.

My complaints are Retro not working on Prime 4, and Sakamoto still being involved with the series.
Nintendo also feeling the need to maintain a "Prime" series concerns me that they still aren't willing to integrate Prime's ideas into series canon either, but we don't know for sure yet.

At least the gameplay for 'A'AM2R looks good, but it still doesn't make me confident that they know what they really want to do with this franchise yet.
Other M and ZSS overload were a massively destructive period and it'll take time to see how they're building it back up.
