the Ranger Hardcore difficulty on Last Light is a lot harder, in my opinion. The only way for you to tell what 5.45 ammo youre shooting is to see if your bullets are differently colored (Bastard) or if they are lighting shit on fire (any other gun)

In Metro 2033, it would show you which ammo was currently loaded when looking at your map I think. Also, in Last Light, you don't automatically regenerate health. All in all I prefer original Metro 2033, but to say Last Light is dumbed down is pretty obtuse.
