I actually agree that a mouse combined with a controller is probably the most precise way to control something.

But instead of putting it on the mouse how about hold one of these in your left hand and using the mouse with the right? you can already do it.

for a basic movements in like an adventure game then MAYBE it would pass but in an FPS game where you have to make specific movements and aim at the same time it would never work

Try wiggling your thumb around in a similar range to an analog stick while moving your mouse and you'll know why it's not been done.

Yeah, I played borderlands 1 & 2 with it. In the end I just went full /comfy/ and ditched the mouse.

It works though, just have to prop the controller on your left hand on something so you don't keep having to adjust it

its easier and more natural than you think and many games have supported this for a long time. i did it with gta 4 ages ago to drive with a controller and briefly use a mouse for drive by precision aiming. used it a bunch in saints row games as well, makes the mayhem destruction missions actually too easy.

Explain instead of using insults

depute it
>superior linear movement
>superior mouse aim

You can't, because it's a great idea.
>>
>>380242717

Anytime you move, you're going to be altering your aim.
>>
>>380242717
It's a bad idea because putting two sets of X/Y axes in control of one hand is a recipe for disaster.
>>
>>380242717
you don't understand how mouse +keyboard works and in fact is superior linear movement already??
let me roughly explain it to you
you move camera in conjunction with keyboard achieving perfect precision in any movement
>>
>>380243069
I have my hand on my mouse right now, moving my thumb as if there were a stick there and my mouse isn't moving at all.

your aim is with the mouse - like any other mouse
>>
>>380243968

Common mouse has 4 buttons.
>>
>>380244140
It's a highly efficient and effective idea that will improve your performance.

The awkwardness and initial difficulty will pass with time
>>
>>380244226
>your moment is with the stick - on the side of the mouse

There are mice with a numpad on the side, only retard or person with one arm would use that to move.

If you have two hands, you are retarded to use mouse for movement, it's going to hinder your ability to aim.

>>
>>380245210
yes, so keyboard is better for that.

kinda why keyboard is bad for racing, because when you press button you go full tilt into a wall and you need to tap.

Keyboard is ON/OFF, analogue is 0.000 -> 1.000 with everything in the middle.
>>
OP dont try and replace a keyboard, people who spent 100 dollars on their meme razer mechanical backlit keyboards will get mad at you

>>
>>380245553

>>
>>380245640
You're thinking too small, it's not just about movelent itself. WASD is great because there's a dozen of other buttons in its immediate vicinity for all the controls you may ever want.
>>
>>380245640
better for what?

for fucks sake, here, it exists
>>
>>380240434
Yes, because the mouse is how you move
>>
>>380246270
Not many of those are true linear analogue. Many are just directional movement like a D-pad on a typical controller. The ones that aren't are not very accurate and good quality compared to the sticks on a playstation controller.

>>380246565
not. enough. buttons
>>
>>380246565
do they do one without the screen and buttons?
>>
I know someone that uses an xbox elite controller in the left hand and aims with a mouse in the right hand for fps games.

It seemed pretty weird to me but he says it's comfy when you get used to it.
>>
Having the stick on the mouse hand is retarded. However, I could see an analog movement stick for the left hand and a mouse in the right hand, I just can't figure out how you would make it ergonomic to use both the stick and the rest of the keyboard buttons at the same time.

Being able to move in any direction relative to your aim, as opposed to eight directions, is a direct improvement and people would get used to it.
>>
You can pretend that dual analog control on the same hand would be precise and useful, but you are 100% not the first person to come up with this idea and there's a reason it's not common practice. Analog on the non-mouse hand has its merits though, for the control reasons previously mentioned.
>>
>>380246629
all of them are analogue, problem is windows or rather directx, it doesn't allow analogue with a mouse, if you would only use analogue without a mouse it would be perfect analogue.
>>
>>380246741
fragFX

The trigger button is not linear tho. It's a shame, I emailed them about it but I doubt they'll fix it. no opint tho since there's only 1 (one) trigger when most games need 2 like gta on PC. right trigger for acceleration, left for breaking

Here.

Now between the option of: TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP - Ah, finally exactly where I need to be, the

perfect angle.

And the option of: Gently easing your stick to get where you want to be hassle free (and faster).

Which would you rather pick?

Imagine me tracking a target running across here in the webm.
>>
>>380247917
Shooters, to start off with. Particularly quake style shooters where movement is important. I feel like third person shooters would be more tolerable with this than net board and mouse.

Think about it this way. If the current system was analog movement plus mouselook, would you really think that the system which gives you less directions of movement and uses more fingers was better?
>>
>>380247917
Racing games.
If your using a keyboad, when the key is pressed it will be full throttle, when not pressed, there will be nothing.

With a stick, you can get both and everything inbetween
