>tfw when you realize /v/ hates cinematic qte-filled games but loves the game that invented the qte

I'm so embarrassed that I fell for this. My thinking was "I guess I have to hit A to do nothing".

Who in their right mind loves Shenmue?
>>380235065
The game isn't even exciting, or deep or anything. I don't know what so many people have nostalgia for it. I got the game back when it was still new, and I thought it was pretty corny and mediocre. it was an alright experience for just walking around and interacting with random shit. But that gets old. The actual gameplay is shit.
I never got it myself.
>no trailer for shenmue 3
>there are people that are still convinced that it's not a scam
it's boring I'd rather play yakuza desu

Kiryu never picks up and inspects bowls in a storeroom though.

Yakuza is literally a more boring Shenmue with otaku pandering crap thrown in.
YOU ARE THE MAN WHO KILLED MY FATHER.
>>380235065
It was innovative at the time
And most of the times they're not intrusive in the gameplay, they just play out in cutscenes
>implying /v/ loves Shenmue
They are manchild who can only appreciate shallow, repetitive garbage like Yakuza.

Wrong image OP. And I don't think half of /v/ even knows this game exists let alone loves it.

It didn't invent them, it did name them though. And, unlike a lot of Telltale games, missing the QTE has consequences most of the time.
The whole game is just "bum around Japan/find your father's killer" simulator. QTEs are mostly for things you do once and it wouldn't make sense to make a whole system of mechanics for. Unlike forklift driving, fighting (including learning new moves), darts and playing with your cat. Those all needed gameplay.

Not really, most of what it had done had already been done before, it really just did it in 3d, and it wasn't like an adaptation of a strongly 2d concept into 3d, it more just leveraged the visual fidelity available in 3d to make it look nice.
