For bigger tourneys, there's always Nintendo sponsorship magic, since that's a thing as of recent.

Normally, a port wouldnt do much but considering the failure of the Wii U and the massive attach rate for Zelda and Mario Kart 8 Wii U ports are actually a really strong idea for Nintendo.

Shadow of War, Code Vein, The Evil Within 2, Wolfenstein 2 and Metro are the only larger budget titles that look decent. 2 of those will probably just be above average shooters, 1 will be a dark souls clone, 1 will a resident evil clone. That leaves 1 game that is remotely fresh and it is still a sequel building off the foundation of a decent game.

The tablet mode is better than the Wii U as well. Breath of the Wild on the Switch runs at a much smoother framerate with marginally better graphics than the Wii U version in tablet mode. And keep in mind that the Switch version took less than a year to port and it still runs better than the version the console was designed for. Mario Kart 8 also exhibits the same behavior on the Switch, never breaking 60 when the Wii U on occasion would (though to be fair, the Wii U version rarely dipped below 60).

It's more complicated than that.
Raw power wise, the switch is slower than the WiiU when undocked and 2x faster when docked, BUT raw power is well not everything, of even close to the case.

As soon the WiiU GPU gets an if statement on the shader code, it shits the bed, while the switch GPU just plow on like nothing and the more complex the shader, the bigger the performance advantage is.
This is why zelda gets a small advantage over the WiiU, and fast RMX gets a MASSIVE advantage.
If the game was "who paints the screen with the color blue the fastest", WiiU would beat the switch.

I don't know how else to word this for you guys but what i was trying to say is the 3ds version is more geared towards handheld gameplay with smash run and all the functionality working that way.

the only way i can imagine smash run working is if the switch was in its handheld form connecting to other switches.

This also doesnt give Sakurai much work to do.. undocking the Switch automatically boots up the handheld version of the game so he doesnt have to amalgamate them all into one. Also the handheld version won't need as highly rendered models as the docked version.. because when docked the switch can render better imagery.

If it's just smash 4 port, the handheld mode have more than enough power to plow thru it with no problems.
You have to remember we're talking about a 1080p/60fps WiiU game here.
You probably can get it running at like 1800p/60 on the switch's docked mode.

If we're talking about a 720p smash4, probably you can get away with 150Mhz without touching the quality.
To be more precise, the switch have three modes:
150 Mhz that gives you 5 hours of battery
300 Mhz that gives you 3 hours of battery
And 768 Mhz that gives you game gear hours of battery, so you're a heartless monster if you use this mode during portable mode.
