Same thing for literally anything by the cash register. Candy, the newspaper, it's all there so you impulsively buy the overcharged item since you're bored while waiting in line.
At my university all the vending machines sell fucking water for $2.00 so I just go out of my way and walk 5 minutes to the nearest convenience store and buy a $1 drink instead.
