>that one game you loved as a child
>look it up now
>all the reviews shit on it
>actually read the reviews
>nobody knew how to play the game
Goddamn, almost every review is exactly the same, complaining about how everything takes a million shots to kill with the default weapon. Somehow missing the fact that it's the weakest option in the game and that you're supposed to be using the other limited ammunition types carefully. Or missing out the part where you should be arresting people whenever possible instead of killing them.
Most aggravating is that there's a number of reviews stating the game forces you into a no-win situation when running out of a necessary ammunition type in the first few levels. It's especially aggravating because the game spawns ammunition around the stage every time you run out, in multiple areas even.

So the news here is that reviews have always sucked at games?
now you know how I felt when I read the reviews for NIER
the first NIER that is

I haven't seen any of the old reviews, the reviews I saw actually came from this decade.
