The problem is that they dedicate all their time to making the character "relatable" and "deep". It's an issue white characters have had as well. It's a symptom of a disease known as "making a cinematic experience."

If you want to fix the industry, one thing you need to do is trash any game that ever dares to have a plot beyond what's necessary. Movie-games like Uncharted, Bayonetta, The Order 1886, Final Fantasy, etc. All of them have to go.

It doesn't matter the protagonist or their gender or race. What matters is if they're a good videogame character. Nothing else.
