This is a big reason why the DaS sequels were disappointing compared to the original. In Bloodborne, you are like a tool being used by the Moon Presence and the ending (with all the tombstones) makes it seem like there have been many many others like you even in your own world.

DaS2 then ofc had the problem where it was made by the B-Team, that made the sequel worse.

DaS3 had the problem where it wanted to be Bloodborne with its enemies and bosses, but was limited by the combat mechanics of Dark Souls. It would have been a much better game with the stamina, fast + plentiful healing, harder dodges and higher HP pools for enemies and bosses that BB had.

It's not that FROM can't do sequels, there's just been a big issue every time with Dark Souls sequels in particular. I think that Bloodborne is much more sequel-friendly than Dark Souls, and hopefully they have learned their lesson about letting the B-team handle it when expectations are so high

well he did start working on DaS3 like immediately after he finished Bloodborne, churning the game out exactly one year after BB's release date (and while simultaneously developing The Old Hunters DLC for BB during that period). It could just be that the whole DaS3 project was very rushed as Bamco anxiously tapped its foot in waiting, since FROM had been doing so much work for Sony instead of them since 2012.

Development for BB started in August-September 2012, giving Miyazaki about 18 months longer to work on the game than he had for DaS3. IMO the real issue with the DaS sequels was Bandai-Namco being such an awful, meddling publisher

Sony doesn't see it like that. They were expecting more out of FROM. Also the only reason why BB was so good is because Miyazaki truly wanted to make it, and he is tired of souls shit. Don't be surprised if it's nothing to do with souls, and if it is, don't be surprised if it's shit.

LOL wot? Bloodborne is way better than Dark Souls. Bloodborne is the only one out of the Souls series which actually has good combat due to the change in ruleset which rewards aggresive playing styles over turtling. Even when you do finally get a shield, you're better off just dodging or parrying because you lose life after a block.

If anything it was Dark Souls 3 that was a step down because it went bakc to playing like a Souls game when BB showed that the formula can work as a much faster paced action game. Nioh further proves it.

where do people get this idea that a sequel tarnishes the original? Bloodborne is still Bloodborne, it doesn't matter if some terrible studio like Bioware Montreal makes Bloodborne 2. Nothing changes about the first game just because a shitty sequel comes out; people will just ignore it - and *no one* is going to just forget that the original was good simply because the sequel sucks.

Miyazaki is obviously taking his time with whatever he's working on now, and is not being rushed up the ass by Bamco execs like he was with Dark Souls 3, so whatever he comes up with I'm sure it will be good. Even if it *is* a sequel to Bloodborne. Hell, he might make a BB sequel just to prove to the world that he *can* in fact make a good sequel, since everyone and their mother seems to think it a universal truth that he is completely incapable of doing such a thing.
