The best sidescrolling jump and shoot game ever. The original version is the best version: the Nicalis made "Cave Story Plus" versions are sped up, which sorta screws up the whole game in terms of balance and design.

The secret ending is just that-- a secret. Don't worry about it and just play the game as it comes to you. The normal ending is just as fun. Going for the secret ending on your first playthrough will just obstruct the experience and introduce a difficulty wall near the end that will frustrate you endlessly.
