The game went through a dark period where they upscaled the difficulty HARD to try to encourage you to buy DLC weapons which were generally better, but they have since ditched their publisher and fixed most of those issues.

That said, if you can pick up the DLC at like 80% off which happens fairly often I would, it's nice to have a wider selection and more missions, though with missions you can just join someone else who already bought it.

I'd play online co op and try stealth as well, it's more designed for multiplayer.

They removed ALL DLC in preparation for a "game of the year' release coming soon. in exchange, they had literally every DLC item for 80% off for the past week or so.

I bought two or three things, skipped the rest.
