Do you guys like The Witness?
I have some problems with it, mostly the fact that a lot of symbols are really unclear and a lot of puzzles are just extremely annoying to solve.

But that's the point. Pretty deep, huh?

There is a difference between never explaining what they want me to do for the tutorial of the new puzzle pieces.

Also, fuck shadows.
Just cant solve this one.

Like this shit, they never explained how it works. Do I need to do a shape? How? What are the conditions?

The problem here is you think games are meant for having fun.

They are not. They are for making political statements and expressing your pseudo-intellectual obnoxiousness.
>>
I never beat it. Activated almost all of those beacon things. For a walking simulator it was pretty enjoyable, but the game turns frustrating when you get stumped on something. Getting stuck for like 2 hours on one puzzle is just miserable.

I like puzzles. The whole art style of the game does not mind me. But it need to be a lot clearer.
Like here, I think I found the tutorial for the shapes? And it make no sense how I have to make a 3 line piece in the middle. You just cant.

Glare was okay, a little annoying to have to go in Paint and Reserse Vertical all the time though. The Apples and Shadows were fun until the very last one in Shadows that I still have not solved.

Branches was okay but a lot of guess work.
>>
>>380051702
Don't think I ever cleared that one.

The island is comprised of a bunch of areas.
Each one contains a semi linear sequence of panels, starting from introducing a new symbol, expending on the mechanics it creates until you activate the laser.
The Town is the exception, taking mechanics from every other area.
Baby steps, anon, you can do it.

It was in the desert. The whole gimmick is moving around until you see glares on the screen to see where the trace is. It expend into reflections and water levels later.
>>
>>380052202
Yeah, I recognized it. I think I just managed to clear the first one or two puzzles there.
>>
>>380052192
Sure, but can you explain how I'm suppose to do the Marsh tutorial when I'm stuck in the second screen?
>>380051240

I do the two line pieces and then the middle one is just straight impossible because I need to do a P piece at some point to move away.
>>
>>380049849
It's my favorite game of 2016.
I think all the puzzle types and symbols are explained well enough by their introductory panels, the real problem is that the game doesn't direct you to them at all.
The tutorials are like getting new powerups in Metroid, and solving puzzles without doing them is essentially sequence breaking
>>
>>380052393
Have you tried rubbing two neurons together?
>>
>>380052393
Have you looked behind the Marsh tutorial panels?
You might be missing an easier version of what you're trying to do now.
The idea of the tetris panels is really hard to explain, but when you get it it's one of the best puzzle types.
You need to sort of combine the shapes, not necessarily line out each one individually
>>
>>380053401
will check. Thanks for the Hint
>>
>>380049849
Is this a troll thread?

I am not joking. I am seriously asking. The puzzles are super easy when you find the simple versions that teach you. I mean i failed at the sound ones but that is cause i am tone deaf but those logical ones. Is everyone trolling me here? Wtf i am not even smart or trying to sound smart but are you guys idiots? I mean the whole point of island was to learn the symbols from somewhere and then use them elsewhere.

I hope i am trolled 5/5
>>
>>380053648
It's not super easy. Some are actually just based on guesswork .
>>
>>380053648
It seems the game's difficulty is extremely subjective.
It's strange that so many people treat it as something impossibly hard and obtuse though. At least OP is trying and not instantly giving up
>>
>>380054261
Yeah, a lot of people have different levels of smart about different things. I'm usually pretty good at those puzzles. But a lot of the game seem to be about solving puzzles with pieces missing.

I somehow missed the tutorial. I think I get it now?
>>
>>380053872
There's not a single puzzle based on guesswork. Maybe you've found a panel and solved it by throwing in a random solution that was correct, but you're supposed to think about it or look around for hints if you're stuck.

You're probably frustrated and blaming the game for your own shortcomings.

>>380054261
Watching other people play the game, it really shows that different people struggle with different things.

Great fucking game though. Blow really knows how to design puzzles.

It's a combination of the two kinds of shadow puzzles seen before. On one side you have to avoid them, on the other you have to follow them.
>>
>>380055174
WAIT, I have to combine them? Then when do I merge? It make no sense.
The Audio said to listen to the trees when there is no wind.
>>
I found the game really enjoyable, but it's a shame it oretty much has 0 replayability. At least for me, what I liked the most was figuring out the gimmicks to each kind of puzzle.
>>
there's tutorial aereas for eacht puzzle types
fuck the blue tetris block though
>>
>>380050449
This is explained rather well. You msut have missed the tutorial for it
>>380050584
The town is the penultimate area of the game. You find the explanation for this puzzle in the bunker in the southeast of the island.
>>380051240
You can combine shapes and the shapes do not have to be centered

Done. It was really not obvious.

Thanks for the head up. I was trying to find what kind of branch would match the broken branch of the tree.
>>
>>380055527
Well, the hint was that the shadow tracing puzzles opened the left door and the shadow avoiding ones opened the right door.
>>
>>380055708
Oh god, I just did both puzzles all in one shot, I did not realize they were just two types of puzzles.I actually thought the Shadow puzzle screen was unlocked with the light .
>>
>>380050910
I disagree, I had fun with both Braid and Witness, they are pretty good puzzle games when it comes to puzzles. People often say that Witness is a mobile game with a pretty overworld overlay on top, but I don't get it: at least half of the puzzles would be impossible without overworld being around. In fact the only thing I dislike about these games are the political statements, but I don't think they are most of the game.
>>
>>380055927
Yeah, if you don't go investigate what the last puzzle on the respective side opens it's possible to miss I imagine.
>>
GOTY 2016
>>
The only ones I found too hard were the boat puzzle and like 50% of the mountain puzzles
>>
You don't always have the information required to solve a puzzle. If that happens just walk away and try a different area. Eventually you can come back to a puzzle understanding something you didn't when you left it. Sometimes you just need a pallet cleanser and some fresh eyes.
Don't get the idea that you can blaze through the game in a couple days.
>>
>>380057149
Which boat puzzle? The environmental ones?
>>
>>380057779
no the sound one inside the wreck
>>
>>380057909
Oh fuck that one. I actually brute forced it before I ever reached the sound mechanics in the rain forest, since I didn't even know to pay attention to the sounds.
>>
>>380056764
lolno
>>
>>380058090
I also brute forced it but after the rain forest
still have no clue what exactly they wanted

Look like I just suck at spacial puzzles. Been stuck on this for like 15 minutes. Gonna take a break, Finished two sections this morning.

rearrange them. long piece to the very left, the rest is easy.

>walking simulator
Puzzle game.
Walking simulators are games where you do nothing but walk.
>>
>>380059001
You do almost as much walking as you do puzzles though. At least I did.
>>
Fuck you, OP. Made to pick this game back up. I don't remember much of the game or the meaning of some of the symbols, but apparently I had 344 puzzles solved. Now I just have to figure out where I'm supposed to go.
>>
I didn't really like the timed puzzle but did my heartbeat raise when I was in the maze when the music hits the climax
>>
>>380049849
Had it in my backlog for a while.
I recently completed the talos principle
It probably doesn't hold up but how is it?
>>
Legitimately don't think any normal person did this without cheating.

A couple savants completed the game and people copied the solutions from them.
